Still need to get the radiator mounts tacked on to mock up my hoses etc. Been working on my HJ47 rear handbrake conversion and getting my crappy leaking exhaust manifold welded redone by a good mate who does awesome tig work. So while l was there l got him to weld my centre diff for a part time conversion on my transfer case. Already have asian free wheeling hubs and the correct cvs.

A bit overkill on the weld IMO. Have you put it on a lathe to see if it still runs true?

It just seem to fill up as he was welding the gaps between the gear teeth. He did ask how much was required but wasn't 100% sure myself. Probably way overkill, and l was concerned about the heat warping it. I did try the cross pin and checked with a straight edge, seems to be fine.

Why do you want a part time conversion? Full time 4wd is better.

^^burnouts dude, burnouts

I went part time in my turbo 80 series as there was a vibration from the front tailshaft and a lot of backlash when changing gears no matter how smooth you shifted. Was happy with the way it drove after so thinking l would do the same with this build.
The diff centre was my old one but currently the transfer is still fulltime, but the front end requires hubs etc. I already have some aisin free wheeling hubs
Might eventually pull the front diff to give it a once over as they are a known weak point.

A thread about converting the full-time transfer case

Been playing with my radiator trying to mock up a good position and use the factory BJ42 lower hose but no good. Looks like l might have to make a custom steel tube, so started to make up a stainless one with some pipe l had. It's slightly smaller at 35mm but will work. Then when looking in my stash of radiator hoses l found a FJ60 steel pipe which could also work, just need to find hoses to suit, then get the radiator lower fitting to suit.
