Trunk Door Seal: OEM only or generic?

When going through puddles a bit too fast I usually get quite a bit of water up into the trunk. It's along the entire length. I think the door seal that I have is a bit old and doesn't expand as much anymore.

Has anyone ever replaced the seals? Generic or OEM part?

I'm in Peru right now and trying to figure out what my best choice is down here.

buy some thin soft rubber (hose) and thread it thru the existing seal to expand it. Easier than buying a new one
Are you sure its the seal?

where in Peru? Was there awhile back as part of PanAm trip
Have the roads improved after all the wet weather?
