Wow...it ran great for about ten minutes and then finally it fell on its face for me. I turned the rig off and coasted to the side. Upon opening the hood. The paper clip is in the same position and the sight glass is empty or below view....
whats your thoughts Marshall? or anyone else too?

So.... no secondaries and the bowl wont refill....could it be the float...?

grasping now.

anyone?

Is it hard to pull the top off the carb to see if the float needle is stuck or gunked up? I only know my weber. Your fuel pump test sounds ok, a cup or two in 15 seconds.....

Not at all...6 or 8 screws. Ive had it off a few times today.

When i had it off it all looked and functioned properly. I even blew through when the valve was open and closed by moving the float. The bowl will eventually refill and then it runs good and then on its face again....
still waiting for Marshall to chime back in.

I know..... I love it too. I roll at 70 mph on the hwy with 35's Ive had it on there for 15,000 way happy miles.. I know its something simple. I feel like a complete ass. Im doing vortec swaps all day long and cant fix my own junk with a carb... what a jack ass huh?
Just when I think I have it... it falls on it face again.

Can also call me tomorrow and we can go through things. Sorry for the troubles but we will get you fixed.

I tried to PM you, but your full.

PM me your number when you get a chance.
Thanks.

Anyone have Marshalls (trollholes) phone number? If so, please PM me with it. I have receipt from him but doesnt have his number on it. His PM box is also full.
Thanks everyone.

Well it wasnt the tank.......
Behind the metering device off the fuel intake on the carb i found a piece of excess silcone from the jackass at the factory that maybe put a little to much on there to help the screen stay on the metering device. it was inside the filter where you can not see. The outside of the filter where dirt should be, was clean. it wasnt till i pulled the metering device out for the float and pryed out the filter that should come off with the metering device when i found the mentioned chunk of silicone....
Makes total sense now. The chunk of silicone rolling around in the metering device would occasionally get stuck causing fuel restriction...
Heres a pic of the culprit. Im removing the screen and adding another filter to the system pre carb.

The first pic I'm pointing at the culprit..
Second pic is where the screen, culprit and metering device are located.
I havent put everything back together yet..but Im sure this was my problem.

Great thread and great pics for those of us with Trollhole carbs! I have had no problems with mine but am glad to see this cause/effect preserved on this forum for future reference.

This has been the most frustrating 4 days of cruiser nonsense I have had in a very long time.....

Just went for a test drive and the final verdict is,-----------------------Problem solved!!!

runs like a champ once again!
Thanks Marshall for your time and thank you everyone else that chimed in to help out. Hope this thread will help someone else in the future.
Even Marshall was surprised of the final assessment as well. He's never seen that silicone in there before.

They really are. I love my trollhole carb....Ive never owned a 40 that ran as good as this one with the set up I have.

I am a firm attest to the greatness of this product , not to mention the A+ customer service that Marshall provides.
