I posted this on our N.M. section but thought you folks might be interested in it as well for a potential future club run. This was the inaugural run of the Kamparoo camper as well and I'm very pleased.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Met up with few folks from Expedition Portal and ran the trails starting last Wed - Sun.

We all met up at the Comb Wash campground, off of hwy 95, not too far from Blanding, UT (N37* 30.8426', W109* 39.281'). We started out on Cottonwood canyon, then worked out way to Dark Canyon, Beef basin.

Second night camping was at Beef basin (N37* 57.002', W109* 53.205'')then worked our way to the Lockhart basin trail head.

Third night camping was at the trail head (N38* 12.988', W109* 40.421'')and the fourth night camping was toward the end of the Lockhart basin trail (N38* 25.525', W109* 42.604'). On Sunday, we exited Lockhart trail via Hoorah pass and into Moab. I headed South while everyone else headed north to SLC, UT.

total fuel used was 35 gallons.

I hope you guys can make a trip to UT some day. It's well worth it IMO. This trip is very offroad trailer friendly for the most part. One part in Lockhart has some rock stuff as seen in the video and couple of tight switchbacks on E-hill (no pics yet).

I need to make a simple rear bumper with shackle mounts for the trailer. Although the need didn't rise on this trip but if I had to have another vehicle pull the trailer back in super tight situations, it'd help to have a recovery point in the rear.

I'll borrow the 80 again when you guys come up....!!

Thanks for posting that over here, I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Looks like fun.

Darcie and I were checking out the San Rafael Swell on I70 on the way back home, too many roads and not enough time...

That would be cool, especially if we left a few days on the end to run a few trails in MOAB baby!!! Let's do this...really.

Wre would love this trip, how ever, I may need to be a little selective about which trips I go on. Looks like I may be changing jobs. Damn I'll miss all the vacation time I get now.

We'll see how things go next week. I'm going to try to negotiate the same deal I have now but who knows how that will go?

Jack, I was thinking the same thing. We could make it a big loop.

Dan, don't worry. Nobody's going to miss you for a week or so.;)

That will work. We have made the drive from the Moab area to home numerous times in one day, so that will help. It might take 1 1/2 -2 days to get to the beginning of where Ali and group started.

Are you thinking like a Saturday to Saturday/Sunday week long trip? I think that would be the best way to cover that much ground and still be able to see everything.

Gotta do Hell's Revenge, Golden Spike and Kane Creek in Moab at least.:bounce:

Dan hopefully it will all work out, we would hate for you guys to miss this trip.

We need to figure out whether we want to do a spring or fall type run with this and try and narrow down when so the :princess: can get the time off (she has to put her time in pretty early).

One thing to keep in mind as you're exiting via Hoorah pass and into Moab is that you drive right on Kane Creek road into town (you come out by the McDonald's). I believe there're are three maybe four Moab trails right off of this trail/road and there are numerous camp sites as well. You *could* unload the heavy camping gear and run these trails even before you actually get into Moab. Cliff hanger is one of those trails since I drove by the sign. Anyway, food for thought.

Obviously one can't count on the weather but what we encountered was pure nirvana. Heck, a little rain to keep the dust down wouldn't be bad but the temps were great. 60's in the day and 40's at night.

There should be Kane Creek, Pritchett Canyon and Cliffhanger on the same road. All three are close to town and from town run in the opposite order I wrote them.

Cliffhanger would be fun in a few places for wagons, not sure about that one, only did it once.
Pritchett Canyon = Big boys only, done it twice and I'm good.
Kane Creek, more scenic than hard, few hard spots but not bad, one of the few I haven't done.

Weather is always a question in that area, we have been snowed on and roasting in the same week. Gotta love it.:grinpimp:
