Pretty non eventful weekend, we got about 5-6" snow and then turned to icey rain which was about another inch. Was able to snow blow before the ice came, neighbors borrowed my snow blower and called me about 2 hours later "um I think I broke it" go out to inspect the damage and he must have sucked up a stick or somthing a broke the plastic auger housing. Nothing he did wrong just cheaply made stuff. We looked online and all the parts for this thing have been discontinued so gave it a try at fixing it. Used a soldering iron and stitched it back together. Seems strong enough so I put it all back together.

This morning was all about de-icing the vehicles and chipping away at the parking spots. Did take a nasty spill trying to de-ice my porch

And some cruiser content since that what we're all about

For your viewing entertainment, mid slip and fall captured by my door bell camera. I'm ok, a bit sore. Ice and concrete doesn't do a great job at breaking falls

Got to do some playing with my neighbors 3120 JD today, breaking up the ice in the driveway. I love this thing

Kiss of death! You gonna get one.

That looks really good that John Deere….I want a back hoe so badly…. Even though I have so little use for it. It would be like a kid in the sandbox.

He has been nice enough to let me use it when I need but every time I do the want increases so much more

Cleared my driveway and 2 neighbors in like 30 mins, what a fantastic piece of kit

Pretty productive weekend, did some beadlock maintenance and moved some tires around for the 100 and spark plug service on the wife's Avalon.

Pro tip for the 2GR-FE just remove the cowl, so much rooms for activities.

Had a fun informative weekend. Couple of us in the club got to join the US Forestry Service for one of their chainsaw certification courses and meet the USFS fire crew who was in town from Montana. Kind of went into it a little naive but it was actually very interesting and informative. Always good to break those bad safety habits and learn new techniques. Classroom time Saturday and Felling/Bucking in the field on Sunday made for a long weekend and I didn't take many photos, but If your brand new to chainsaws or been around them your whole life I would still recommend this course to anyone

If anyone is near Edinburg Tuesday-Saturday around 11:00am, it's a must to stop in and check out Beans BBQ, it was phenomenal. Past noon....don't bother b/c they'll be out, or the line long enough that they'll be out before you get to the counter.

Well I guess I'm collecting chainsaw's now lol. 😅

My neighbor was cleaning out her shed and and I happen to notice a saw sitting in a pile, she said it was all going to the dump and asked it I could try and bring it back to life ( ya know, we all need more crap to tinker with ) Its an old Poulan super 25. Opened the tank and it was bone dry and the walboro carb looked brand new. Fuel line on the other hand was trashed, pretty sure I looked at it the wrong way and it crumbled to dust. In the mean time I took the whole saw apart to clean and inspect things, while I was at it did a small muffler mod to it. Well 2 dollars in fuel line later and we were in business, fired right up and idled perfectly! Don't sleep on these little saws its a torque monster, now to get it in some wood but overall nice little light weight saw.

Next morning my father called me and was at a friends house and said his neighbor was having an estate sale, sitting in the garage was a Husqvarna 350 power head. Dad said it was clean and had good compression but no bar or chain. "Guy said make and offer, hasn't run in years" he tells me. Well definitely not needing another saw I told him to offer 50 dollars. Needless to say now I have a husky 350 lol. Dad couldn't help himself and tossed some 50.1 in it and of course it fired right up. Rinse and repeat, took that saw apart to clean and inspect and found nothing wrong with it, even bore scoped the cylinder which was spotless. Looked brand new with very little use especially for a 2005 model which I found out by the serial number. Ordered a new bar and chain for it but I cant leave we enough alone and decided to port that muffler too. After talking with a friend he said it really wakes those saws up figured "why not" worst case scenario I'm out 13 dollars for a replacement muffler. Welder was acting up a bit so it not the prettiest thing I've ever done but it will work

That is my kind of thing. The desire to not throw away something drives that insanity. I’ve been saving stuff I’ve found and bringing them back to life for 50 years…. You have to be thrilled when that happens.

So, now that you’re an advanced chainsaw guy … my Stihl farm boss 22” saw I bought 45 years ago has bit the dust. It does stump me (no pun intended) though. I think it may need a new carb but while you can pull the starter, it seems like the needed pull force has doubled. That’s what I’m not sure about. Could it have some kind of compression release I am unaware of?

We live in such a "throw away" society now it drives me nuts!

By NO MEANS whatsoever am I an expert lol but have rebuilt my fair share of small engines. What is the actual model number of the FB? I have a MS271 farm boss and doesnt have a compression release valve

I’m gonna go dig it out of the shed later. I did replace it with a MS-180. Smaller, lighter and does what I can do at this point in life. Mostly oak and anything over 24” I just go-around the back and meet up with the initial cut

pull it out send it to me, you can pick it up at C&C ill see if we can get it running again

Finished the husky 350 over the weekend and checked some things off the honey-do list since the weather was beautiful

Husky got the intake clamp mod, 346xp muffler bracket, decompression valve delete, and installed the ported muffler. I put it in a stump behind the shop and it is a powerhouse for a 52cc saw

Also had a nice breakfast with my mother and grandfather on Saturday. We finished up and she went to take him home and I headed home as well. No sooner than I pulled in the driveway mom called and said she had been rear ended, guy never even hit the brakes. I grabbed the trailer and headed to get them. Everyone was ok and that's the important thing unfortunately her Ford Edge is totaled. I ended up just pulling it to the shop this morning and I'll handle the insurance claim here. Luckily she ordered a 26 nori green over saddle GX550 a few months ago unfortunately it's not due in until June.

Absolutely, might be a blessing in disguise, they may get more for it through total loss insurance payout than if they traded it in. We will know soon

Those old McCollugh's a tough saws
