I did a search and couldnt really find anything. I have a 99 that was in a light rollover this winter. Had mechanic go through and its running good now. BUT, recently i notice that the transmission is sort of hunting for gears when going up hills. 214,000 miles. Any ideas? Is this a warning that the trans could be getting weak aka failure soon?

Thanks!

Certainly sounds like it could be.

But, fwiw: I had an 85 ford station wagon, that would suddenly drop down a gear and then sort of surge when going up a prolonged hill, would only go smooth if a slowed down a lot - turned out to be a weak fuel pump.
