Transmission problems?

I recently purchased a 91 4runner, I drove it for a couple days and out of nowhere I was getting no acceleration at higher speeds. When I shift into forth of fifth gear the rpms rev really high and I have very slow acceleration.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Clutch? Transmission?

What engine? (not that it really matters much)

Assuming it's a 5-speed, sounds like the clutch to me. Does it have any trouble taking off from a dead stop?

Yeah it's a five speed, no it seems alright in low gears, it's starts around 3rd

A clutch failure will show it's self in higher gears first... Find a hill to drive up and see if it is worse, if so, then it's clutch time....
