I was told it's a gearbox from a Landcruiser. What is it?

R151F or R150F off a 4cyl ?

I was hoping it's a R151F I can put behind my 1PZ. However, I don't see a shifter point on the transmission to engage 4wd.

Its that round thing next to the front output shaft. I dont know much about these but it could be electrically shifted,it looks too small for a vacuum shifter.
I think there are ways to convert them to a manual shift.

You would need to check up on input shaft lengths and spline counts also. The various petrol and diesel engines have the starter on different sides as well.

Is that sand filling up the gearstick hole?

R141, R151 is my guess.
where are you located and where did you buy it from?

I'm afraid it is mud and sand that's filled the gearstick hole.

I'm in Kathmandu, Nepal and it's at a wrecker, here. When a mechanic friend examined the gearbox he said it was stuffed so I haven't bought it yet.

However, I was wondering if it would be possible to just use the gearbox housing of the R151 and tranfer the core from my R!41; for the 5th gear use components from the stuffed box or replace if necessary.

What are the engine revs in 4th gear with the R141 between 80km-100km/hr assuming std size tires?

i attempted to use a R151 and couple the gearing from the R141 to achieve the lower gears of the 41 with the o/d of the 51 but the shafts cut is incorrect for the gears to mate properly.
if you get it to work please do post up how you did it, i would LOVE to build one for myself.

There is some gear ratios here TLC FAQ - 8.1 Transmission & transfer Case Ratios (All :1). Im assuming the 4 sp has the same ratios as the 4 gears in one of the R151,but which one,I do not know.
There are calculators on the net that will tell you what speed it will be doing.

I would ask the wrecker to open up the 5 sp and see if its worth rebuilding.

Rosco,
the R141 has the exact same ratios as the H41 (H55 without O/D)
the R151 is completely different (except 4th is 1:1 in both)

Sorry to revive an old post but i'm looking for some clarification, The r141 tranny is a 4 spd and the r151 is a 5 spd ?:hhmm: thanx Neil

Thanx Karter:beer: i wonder how much taller geared the 51 is compared to the 41 ? My rig has the 51 in it but it came with two spare 41's and transfer cases mated to them also.
