I’m looking to purchase this rig. 1988 Fj62 with recent ish h55f install. There is a leak at the transfer case seal. Is this a straight forward fix or possibly a more complicated issue. It appears to be dripping so the leak is a bit more severe.

Here is a picture. Thank you.

Is it gear oil? Or engine oil? Is it only wet right at the transfer case or further up toward the engine as well

If engine oil - check if it is from rear main seal or valve cover. Rear main seal means you gotta pull the transmission and transfer case.

If gear oil- transfer case seals. Pull transfer case and seal.

Not fatal in any scenario. Just more or less expensive to fix depending on what the leak is.

be certain it is not coming from higher, the front facing side of the transfer seems "wet"
can the OP take it back to who did the install and have them fix the issue, as it is a recent install?
either way the transfer will need to be taken apart to get to it.
