Installing a trans temp gauge on my 3FE 80. Planning to install a T fitting in one of the lines rather than tap the pan/sending unit. Which line is the ideal line to tap? I assume as close to the trans as possible is best? Anyone have a diagram of the system where the direction of flow is labeled? Or a labeled photo of the lines at the trans? Thanks.

If I was going to do it this way it would be on the line heading out to the cooler. If you go on the input line your temps may read lower than actual in the transmission.

Personally I'd try to find a way to put it as close to the existing temperature sensor as possible. Not sure if you could just pull the sensor and install the sending unit for your gauge or if the sensor effects more than just the dash light.
