I was thinking about a shrubbery as well. Actually was considering buying some seeds or small starts of eucalyptus or moringa trees as they grow very quickly.
 
What about the M1102's?? There are a bunch coming up for sale at Ft Meade soon. Are they too wide to pull behind a cruiser?
 
There is hope! Just hooked it up to the new cruiser to move it across the yard. May work out well with a lighter axle.

I took the bows and canvas down today and moved it behind the shed. Much less visually obnoxious and made the wifey smile.
I'm pretty sure I will keep it. As someone mentioned, aint no way I'll get my money back. Even if I did get a 101A2 its still not exactly what I want.
What I got is a hella stout trailer thats rust free. It will need some tweaking to get it set for what I need. Next step is to make a new friend with someone that owns a plasma cutter and welder :)

The M1102 is a nice trailer and wide. It was sized for the Humvee and has an alum. body. @ a dozen sold in St. Louis and all went for over $1000. Sounds like you're going to keep the 105, so get a new axle, wheels and tires, lose some leaves from the spring pack and you'll have a trailer for life.
 
That was my thinking too. This thing is a beast by all accts, and properly modded for my needs will last a lifetime.

Where I would like to go, is to start by narrowing the box and track to at least match the 62s. Will probably shorten a bit too which will make it a little easier to handle and shed a little more weight.
As far as final dimensions, I'd like to size it to fit based on getting some weathertight containers to fit in the cargo box.
As briefly mentioned, my main purpose for the purchase is to increase capacity for trips I take for collecting and delivering disaster relief items after hurricanes etc and medical equip and supplies to rural clinics.
Having some boxes that are roughly 18" high (or stacking 2 high at 9") and fit well arranged in cargo box will be good to protect med supplies. I may mod the bows to fit the new size, but main thing to protect from the elements will be a hinged lid.
Was looking briefly at mil surplus boxes or containers on the web. Any suggestions for a good and cost effective choice?
 
For your storage containers you may want to look at some of the "bulk" sales of pelican/hardig cases that pop up on .gov liquidation sites. Being in VA I would assume you have a good selection from all the military bases around.

Good idea. Norfolk is just a bridge-tunnel's drive away :). Any suggestions of particular boxes or original box uses I should look for? Or just keep searching for Pelican?

They should have all sizes, Not sure what size equipment/supplies you carry around. I've got a few Hardigg's and Pelican's that were issued that are perfect for camping gear and such. The only downside is weight. For pelicans I'm a fan of the 1620s for all my gear. I also use the 1550 and 1600s for supplies. The hardigg's I have are the foot locker.
 
Can anyone ID this trailer? I just picked up the Dec issue of 4wd Toy Owner and saw this pic. The caption has it listed as a military trailer. Doesn't look like anything I've seen in the mil surplus realm, unless it is heavily modified already. Im not going to cut the cargo box this small, but I like the barn door style tailgate and tubing along the top edges.
Look familiar to anybody?

I think you're probably right, something that was mil, now heavily modded subsequent to its active duty tour.
 
I was looking at the pic again this morning and searching online for all military trailer types. Nothing looks close. My guess is full custom?
I really dig the guards around the taillights. Maybe keep some low profile lights in the original location under the tailgate with similar guards. Me likey :-)

Pretty neat little setup. Especially like the way he used some truck bed tool boxes that were lying around on the wheelwells. Trying to get some more specifics on his trailer before I start making some sketches based on where to cut on mine. Need to decide how small to make the cargo box- do I cut it close to M416 size like the thread in the link, or leave it a little bigger? Would like to be a little bigger, but that one does look nice for the size behind the FJC.

Honestly...I'd cut your losses, and get rid of that behemoth while you can. It looks to be in really nice shape, and if you bought it right, you may get your money back. I just can't see you spending 2 months cutting it apart, and ending up with a smaller trailer on a 3 ton frame...just seems like a lot of work to kinda get what you want.

I have a buddy in Clayton, DE that usually has good prices on M101A2's and M116A2's.....let me know.
