I was talking to Dean from MARC and he was telling me they had a report that FR399 ? was blocked up to Mt. Baldy (Almagre). We could go check it out.

Leon, did Dean give any indication to why FR399 was closed?

Trees down / trail washed out / rock slide ???

I was starting to think about what kind of tools / supplies to bring and came to the conclusion that a chainsaw might not do so well against a rock slide. :D

Thanks.

It was FR 379, I will try to find out the details of impassable and more specifics on where.

I most likely will not be able to make this run, so if somebody would like to come by my house and get the air tank on the way out, let me know. Or I might be able to drop it off at the western that morning.

Just wondering if anyone has thought to talk to the USFS before doing something like this? You'll need to talk with Frank Landis. Rick Ellsworth is out hunting this week.

I'd tag a long, but it's going to a long day and my better half has plans for that evening.

Yea, who are they to get into our business!!

Just got an update, the road has been cleared. Still want to run it anyway or try another trail? Maybe Idaho Springs will entice a change of heart from Luke ;)

Not sure about everyone else, but I'd be up for anything. Well, as long as it's not too intense. I just got my rear bumper back on and I'm in no hurry to take it off again.

Well, if we wanted to stick to the Mt. Baldy idea, we could do Mt. Baldy then shoot over and hit Bull Park for a bit more of a challenge (at least according to my Wells guide).

I also like the idea of heading up north to the Idaho Springs / Georgetown area, but not sure how our Pueblo boys would feel about that. :) Not sure about conditions either. ???

If we don't feel like driving to the back side of Gold Camp (but keep it local), we could hit Schubarth Loop, China Wall, Rainbow Falls & Little Moab... ???

Personally, I made it up half way on Mt. Baldy last year, but had to turn around due to a carsick kiddo. So. I'd like to mark that off my list, and Bull Park looks like fun, but again, I'm up for anything!

Might not make it to the top of mt. Baldy. There's a pretty sketchy little washout area up there that I'm not crazy about driving over when it's icy. There's already two ATV's, a Jeep Cherokee, and an Escalade down at the bottom. We think that might have been a divorce settlement, but you never know.

Not sure if there's ice up there or not. Just be careful.

I'm game for the baldy area if thats where we end up. if we go up north I think I'll be out at this point.
going to rock the GMC though if we stay close:D

Cool! Can't wait to see the truck in action.

As for this weekend, I think at this point we'll stick to the Mt. Baldy plans (unless anyone has any major objections?).

Should be a good time! :steer:

Fine with me but I have never done this trail. I was mostly kidding about Idaho Springs for this weekend. I was thinking of having Neil bring his 4runner. What do you guys think, it is stock and he has no experience.

As I mentioned before, I made it most of the way before turning back, but that was right before it started getting interesting. :D

I'd say bring him along, gotta start sometime! He's got a good head on his shoulders, I think he'll do fine.

Just picked up a 3 disc Grateful Dead album for the trip... NOW I'm ready for some wheelin' :steer:

You have too much time on your hands :D

For the HAM guys, I will be monitoring both the MARC system and 146.460 starting at about 8:30.
