I noticed Trail Gear has a full kit for a SAS on a 4th gen in the same year range as the GX470. Given the similarity of the drive train I was curious if this kit could be used for a Lexus? I am sure there are obvious obstacles with a V8 vs. the V6 and clearance, just curious on some thoughts.

Still in budgetary planning phase :)

I think I should take the plunge on wheeling my Lexus and actually getting a scratch before thinking about a SAS.

Upitty 23rd post bud.

I said, "I should" not "You should"

My number post should have not bearing on what I do and do not say. I am a avid wheeler but just haven't taken the plunge with my Lexus yet on the pin striping. I have a 91 pathfinder that I beat against the trees.

Let me know how that GX470 SAS goes bud.

I read it as sarcastic, so if I got that wrong, my apologies.

I know who you are, I saw you on 120.com, know about your Nissan, etc. I have been doing this for a decade.

I also know the FJ/4th gen/Prado really well and I love the geometry, etc but the IFS is always a little freaky with wheel stands down here in the SE US...hence the SAS since it really does help a lot.

I think I will go to max out IFS configs and see what I can see in terms of going big.

I wouldnt put "trail gear" anything, on my rig, thats all Im going to say about that..

I have Trail Gear sliders on my Tacoma and no complaints. Care to elaborate?

Have you done anything to your GX yet to prepare it to be a wheeler? Until I have sliders I am not going to do s*** in mine. I made the mistake of wheeling my Nissan without sliders and beat the hell out of my passenger door rocker and the door.

I think that Dan understands the importance of sliders. He has been in this game for quite some time. Check out his old 80 here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/122020-dankunz-rotw.html

When he says he wants to do a SAS to a 470, I would bet that it will probably get done.

I myself look forward to watching the prado build. It has been an little dream of mine for a while now. Although I would leave the IFS since I would want it to be more expedition oriented since I already have a SA 80 for the rocks.

Link to the kit? They just released their 1st gen "Tacoma" kit but I haven't seen anything for the newer trucks...

I got a random email announcing it. I think I saw it from the "like" I did on facebook for rockcrawler.com

This is my thought too, and part of my difficulty in going whole hog to SAS.

I won't wheel a truck without properly equipping it. I learned that lesson early on.

I haven't done anything yet, just saving.

Once I go, I will have it all done at once and off to the trails. I hate progressively building stuff, I suck at being patient :)

I searched on rockcrawler.com and found their press releases regarding the 95.5-04 kits but nothing newer. I've had 3 of the new body style trucks and follow that stuff closely, and hadn't caught wind of it yet but that doesn't mean its not out there. If you run across it again i'd love to see the info on it.

I looked around too and I couldn't find it. Must be daydreaming and saw the new Tacoma kits.

If you are still considering this, I would watch the FJC forums for ideas as the hardware is all the same up front between the FJC, 2005+ Taco and 2003+ 4R. I have a few friends who did SAS swaps on their FJCs.
