As much as I could safely fit!
Yeah I didn't exactly search beyond first or second page of this thread. That photo could very well be one of the very first photos ever posted on the world wide web under
land cruiser pictures. And I'm betting that thing still runs.
Looks like a good day, at least he took his Merc without whining about it.
So kudos to him. What engine is in that? Be nice to have an efficient city rig,
winter salt deflector car.
Always wanted a Mercedes.I agree; he's definitely not afraid to take it anywhere!
Engine is the OM642. They make tremendous power/torque and get great economy (215hp and 400ft/lb @ 1600rpm). BUT.....they have issues with oil leaks and emissions systems. I've been quite tempted by them on a few occasions, but in the larger GL320 platform. But dealing with the minor engine/sensor issues and air bag suspension etc. has ultimately turned me off....
Is it a turbo or non turbo 5 cyl? Way back in ‘96 when I bought my ‘73 FJ40 I was seriouslyMy parents have a 92 Merc wagon. Thing hauls ass and they get close to 40mpg in it.
Pretty awesome car to be honest. Huge inside.
They imported it from Germany 10 years ago or so. Not sure what engine it is, but it needs glow plug system looked at so I guess I'll be getting acquainted with it soon enough.![]()
$11K US. 5 speed TD 1992 CoolOne more car the old lady can’t drive
That’s a California car above. I know they are known for rusting if not sealed when bought. Some nice diesel Mercedes pop up in Vancouver craigslist pretty regularly. Just do some careful research before buying; some are great, some not so much.... They're definitely not without their issues. And quality in the newer built in North America ones is lacking.
