Toyota Extended Warranty Thoughts and Opinions

Endurance just quoted me 3600 7/100, includes same day activation discount of 400. I put a deposit of 100 and was told by the guy that I can get it back if I wish to cancel it in couple of weeks.
anyone has any experience dealing with them.
It is 3712 and Also they are giving a $500 shopping voucher that will bring the price to 3212. They have good reviews online but also lost BBB accreditation.
 
I’m not feeling that one since it only goes to 100k. It seems like most of the known issues pop up right around 100k to 120k. That amount of money would pay for a Valley Leak, Radiator failure and probably even a starter before you break even, and that’s IF all those things fail before 100k. With mine I spent $2k to protect against what I saw as about $4k of risk with what I estimated was a 75% chance of happening before the 125k limit. In my simple way of thinking that $2k warranty was likely worth $3k in repairs and possibly $4k if limited to common problems. I would shop around and ALWAYS negotiate on a warranty.

I mean this is for 7years/100k miles from today and my truck has 86070 right now.so I will be covered till 2028 or 186070 whichever is sooner.

You sure about that? most warranty periods start at the first date in service (titled) not the current date/mileage.

Typically the year component (7) is from the date you purchase the warranty, but the mileage component is tied to the odometer. Not saying that is the case here, but that is what I have always seen.

That said, if you are right and it runs until 2028 or 186k, for $3200, I suspect you will come out ahead.

On mine it says they are allowed to use aftermarket or even Re manufactured parts, but it doesn’t exclude me from using my dealer for repairs who will only use OEM parts.

I would be very interested to see how it treats the AHC system components. If they are covered and have a problem you would come out well ahead.

For third party companies, here is what ya need to look out for. OEM parts or aftermarket, what labor rates will they pay up to, is it a reimbursement plan or do they pay the repair bill to the service center, is there a maximum payout, can they cancel the plan for any reason, what facilities are authorized to use their contracts, and how long the company has been around. You'd be surprised as to how many times we have someone livid in service because they bought a contract that only pays at $50 an hour labor and won't use Toyota parts. If that contract can satisfy all those then I would jump on it like a fat kid on cake!

Called Endurance and got the following
1. They will pay for the OEM parts if the dealer is not willing to use anything else. Shouldn’t be a problem as long as I go to a Lexus dealer.

3. This is where it gets a little tricky. They say they will pay the labor rate as per the national and regional averages. When asked how much it is they were not ready to give a number and the rep told me that this shouldn’t be a problem but they have issues with the dealers demanding too many hours for a specific job than the NADA average.

And also I read online that they usually send their inspector to verify the repairs and in some cases it would take a week or two. Is that the same case with the Lexus Platinum warranty too? Do they do inspections instead of taking the dealers word for it?

Not at all - Lexus warranty trusts their dealers. The only time i've heard of a Lexus rep getting involved was a repeat issue that can't be fixed or cosmetic/blemish issues. I once had rims that were showing signs of wear at 10k miles. Lexus approved replacing all 4 for free.

Can I take my toyota warranty to the Lexus dealership for repair service or do I have to take it to Toyota? I much prefer our Lexus dealer intown versus Toyota. We Lexus service all of our vehicles regardless of make.
