Ok because I am a glutton for punishment, I've been looking into the different engine lengths as possibilities for different swaps, i.e. HZ into Prado, PZ or other in to Tacoma etc...

Much intent searching has yielded virtually nothing of use so I figured I'd start a thread here with the pertinent information.

I'll update more as I can measure stuff out.

At present, I'm measuring bell housing mating surface to forward most point of fan clutch. Obviously, you could use an electric fan and save some length, but in some cases there are other things that stick out nearly as far.

1HZ, 1 HDT: 34-1/2" to fan clutch.

2LT-E: 26" bell to fan clutch

1KZ-TE about 28" bell to fan

1PZ about 31" to front of fan clutch. The power steering pump would be the next longest part clocking in around 29"

2LTE is a short little bugger. In fact I think it nearly stops short of the front axle. Making the LJ7x Prado technically a mid engine vehicle....LOL.

I went and measured my 3B, I also converted it into real units of measurement.

1HZ, 1HDT, 2H, 12H-T: 867mm to fan clutch

3B with power steer: 760mm to end of fan. 29.92". 700ish minus the fan clutch assembly.

2LT-E: 660mm

1KZ-TE: 711mm

I've also got a 2L, I might measure the height and width later on.

I don't know if this is the place to ask, but anyone ever heard of a B engine swapped out of an LC and into a pickup or 4Runner?

There was a tacoma with a 3B in it for sale in BC a few years ago.

I have a 3B sitting in the frame rails of an 1989 hilux

There's a number of 3Bs and B series in Hiluxes here in Australia. The version of the Dyna with the 11b in it uses an R series gearbox so mechanically it's a bolt together conversion if you get the right bits. Of course engine mounts and other bits need to be changed.
