Thinking on buying these for the 80. Wondering what kind of treadlife guys are seeing on a heavy truck?

Might abandon my coopers for the first time in many sets

I've got over 35K on mine. 285/75R17 on my 60. 10K since Sept on a single trip up to Inuvik/N Canol/Campell Hwy.
Still have lots of life. My truck has steel bumpers, 2 winches, rear tire + 3 can carrier, + RTT. It's pretty heavy.
I can't see owning any other tire.

I regularly get 60k out of my coopers would you say that these will get you the same?

I would say 60K is a good target. I get home in 3 weeks. I meant to measure tread depth a little bit ago, just for
my own interest. I still plan to do that. I don't wear tires to bald, I tend to replace before I get issues.

me too my current depth is about 1/4 inch

Love my KM2s, but soft and for me performance is tops...

I've had the BFG's and numerous balance problems. Not sure I'd go there again.

Still keen on the toyo's. I can get them for the same price as the cooper ST's which is an aggressive commercial tread. The Toyo's are one more notch on the traction scale and there's lots of rumours that they have longevity - but reviews are mixed.

Check tire weights of the same size - Toyos are heavy.

Yeah, I think mine are 85 lbs ea. I suspect it's 1+ mpg penalty, on steel wheels. What size are you thinking?
I too have heard tread life isn't fantastic, but I'll take the trade off. I did a couple of long trips without even taking
a spare, just have a pretty invincible feeling with them.

315 75 16 - The toyo's are heavier. sites report them around 76lbs Coopers are 64lbs

Believe me, I am searching desperately for a 17" alloy wheel that doesn't look like a pimps medallion.
I could happily lose 10 lbs by doing this. That being said, if a person is going to have a bunch of
unsprung weight, I recommend hanging it from OME. My 60 rides like a Cadillac. A 1918 Cadillac,
but a Cadillac nonetheless...HaHa!

gofast - do you already have the 16" wheels? I've got a Bj74 I'd like to put 16's on.

Yes I have two sets of wheels - fj cruiser 17's and lx450 16's sets of 5.

I thought I'd keep the 16's for winters but my truck has never been driven in the winter. I have a beater for that duty. Would like to trade them though.

This is going to be the last summer on my Toyo MTs before I have to pony up for a new set.
I put them on June 2013, I have about a 1/4 inch on them left. I'll probably put another 10k km at least this summer/fall.
I think it will be around the 50,000km mark off the top of my head.
I may go the Toyo M55 route next.

I had m55's on a truck that ran on blast rock at speed for an entire year. No punctures. Just don't make them in the size I want though
