What a story! Glad it all ended up alright. Is this the original pitman arm? If so, not bad considering the age and the mondo tires!

Ive been thinking about this all week and wondering if the front end had been in a weird position or not.
From the pics...it looks to be rather routine...wheels relatively straight, not too flexed out.
All I know is that I DONT want it to happen agian!
