Been a long month. Nothing really done on truck. Did an industrial sewing project. And part one of locker world arrived. Second one on its way. Heading to LA tonight so possibly hit some shops next week to hopefully acquire a missing piece of my puzzle.

Ok. So i snuck out of the blizzard and landed in LA. Found a piece of my puzzle on my adventures. The elusive splitcase pto box. Now to battle traffic to get back to longbeach.

Good to be home. Parts show up even when out of town. Now to get back to working on the truck. With the pto box in hand i can start building exhaust. I beat my parts here from LA tho.

Aquired an arb diff with apparently a chewed pinion nut. Surprising to me. So decided to try something. Had a few marlin drilled xfer case outputs and a couple marlin dustshields for diffs lying around. Couple min in the press and voila. Should fit any driveshaft i have in my pile. Now to dig for a pinion seal and stakenut.

Its a snow day here. Im feeling better and dr said i could drink beer in extreme moderation. So. Got to work on bed body mounts. Used a combo of fj55 and fj40 mounts on the back and am slowly working my way forward. Had to trim a bed support to level the bed relative to the frame. Test fit taillights and rear fzj79 bumper. Amazingly enough the holes line up with bumperette holes that already exist! Frame width if a 79 and 45 are slightly different tho. While i was testfitting decided to see if the old school mudflaps would fit. Little lv flair.

Working my way forward on the bed mounts. Making sure the bed is level to the flat part of the frame. Think i noodled on it long enough. Moved two existing swb bed mounts and relocated a 79 bed mount. Used another combo of 40 and 55 mounts. Hope to burn em in tomorrow. Four more mounts to go.

Mostly. Need to finish mounts, finish cleaning up bed sides and finish burning in floor. Clean then epoxy what is done. Then i can finish bed floor pieces in front of wheel wells. Cant finish the bob yet it would leave unpainted metal. Trying to get everything ready to remove bed yet again to flip it onto a cart and finish bottom.

Im apparently not super fast at fabricating body mounts but two more ready to go. Still need to drill and slot holes in the second mount but not a bad day. This leaves one set of mounts that i cant finish till i flip the bed.

One left! Per side. Ill finish them when i flip the bed over hopefully tomorrow. That's six per side. I think toyota over engineered this.

Did that universal flange to work for ya? I have a couple and tried to use them twice and nothing lined up. Just curious , probably me getting in a hurry or something.

Nice truck.

Ive used them before on my wagon. Since i have a pile of driveshafts it makes fitting them easier. Im not to the point of fitting a driveshaft nor have i installed this set of arb's in the truck yet. Still undecided if i go with 3.73 or 4.11's. I will probably test drive it with whats in it. Before i button up the arb's ill be adding a solid pinion spacer as well.
It can be a bit of a pain to find the correct holes. Easiest to fit the tcase first, pop it in neutral pull the pinion up tight and spin till they align.

Working on making the bed whole again. Not sure why it appears to have a green haze. Perhaps thats dinner venting from me?

Really liking your build, especially the bed mods and your custom bed mounts, they are going to look great and will be very strong. Keep up the good work.

Can I ask what is the thickness of the sheet metal in the bed? (Floor and side walls)

Soot and Mr Z will try after this weekend. Nicer weather meant yard work.
