Too much rust? (1 Viewer)

Shady dealers always post wet pictures to hide all the scratches. Ticks me off. Just expect lots of clearcoat scratches. The underside looks ok.

s***, I didn't know that was a trick. I came pretty close to buying a '09 LC out of Utah with a too good to be true price. Had it sent to a third party mechanic and the guy called me back with a "Uh, save your money. I'm not even going to charge you. This thing is in rough shape, it took me 20 minutes to get it started." Dodged a bullet.

Minor rust from what I can tell ... Look on the body under the car behind the rear wheels and under the bumper for rust too ... Common place for holes ... Depending on the price I'd go for it despite the rust.

I'd punch that VIN into Lexus customer portal and see where the truck was serviced from. Doesn't look like it spent much time up north and if it was, was garaged in winter most the time.

Just to follow up. I didn't end up going with that LX after all. It had low miles - and you guys made me feel much better about the rust - but I just wasn't feeling it. I was pricing out OEM wheels to replace the aftermarket ones, looking for emblems to get rid of the gold ones and I just ended up thinking that I should be trying to find one that I like right out of the gate. Anyways, I found a 07 LX in Georgia (but it lived its whole life in San Diego - GO CHARGERS!) that's a little more expensive, and had higher miles, but it was really well taken care of. I had it sent to an independent Lexus dealer for a pre-purchase inspection and they confirmed that it's in great shape - other than the broken antenna. I talked to the guy who inspected it and he was gushing about the shape it's in. And it's Cypress Pearl color - which, I just love that color. Finalizing the paperwork now.

So. F'ing. Excited.

Nice truck! Also, go Pats!

good looking truck! I just came back from Flagstaff for vaca. Snow was fun!! Good place to wheel around. Only got to play on Schnebly Hill and Broken Arrow down in Sedona.

We owe you guys. That 2006 playoff game where we had the first round bye, and then lost the game to the Pats on the interception-fumble of Marlon McCree - will forever haunt my dreams.

Nice! Are you down in Phx? I've always wanted to try Schnebly but never had a vehicle to do it in.

From San Diego. Was up at Flags last weds (burr!!!) to saturday night before that foot of snow dumped. Sedona Thurs, Grand Canyon Friday, Sedona Sat afternoon, Phx Saturday - Monday Morning. Went to Ben Avery shooting range almost off of sunday with an hour in the rain. Wind wasn't too bad for shooting the long rifle. Drove back to Flags on Monday to get my truck from dealer so I played in the snow on Schnebly Hill Rd off the 17 on the way home. Only went a few miles down, think its like 20+ miles long to get to Sedona, I don't know where the gates are, and how deep/steep that downhill went into the valley below. I played it safe since I was out there solo, at least the snow was packed but gravity wants to do its thing on off camber parts. Wish I had more time and trail knowledge. I'll be back there in the summer!

Wait... you - a guy from Arizona - is taking a rust-from Land Cruiser FROM Georgia back TO Arizona? Come on man! We're on the fringes of rustlessness here and you... Just kidding. Congrats on the 100. Looks like great truck!

LOL! So this truck got bought by a dealer in GA from a Carmax in San Diego. It's been there maybe a month. I'm actually saving it by bringing it back out here where it's dry.

Ah, that's awesome. Yeah we got a good bit of snow last weekend. The nice thing about Flag is that even after a big snow storm the sun still comes out. It's cold right now, especially for folks from San Diego. I moved here from Los Angeles, took one winter before I got used to it. Schnebly is supposed to be 4x4 only. You said you picked up a truck, did you buy from Findlay Toyota?

nah the LX is old and likely never seen 1* temps (pure socal truck), 208k, the fan bracket bearing failed while on Broken Arrow. One too many bumps on the hitch knocked the bearing loose. Made it back the drive to flag without exploding. Dropped it off to Findlay Friday morning and they took til Monday to get it completed for the 500 mile trip home. Got the tbelt and water pump done while they had it all apart for the $250 fan bracket. My sister followed me in her Highlander on this trip plus i got a free loaner from Findlay so we did almost everything we planned to do and more.

I had briefly looked at their TRD tacos in case the truck wasn't fixable, but lucky I didn't have to spend 40k on the new truck. Mine was still fixable and had life left in her. build thread ->> jsig's lx470 build

Oh... you're saving it. Well... okay. Nice work.

@jsigone I just checked out your build threat. Love what you did with your LX! Also, makes me miss SoCal a little bit. I used to do a lot of MTB in San Fernando Valley, the scenery looks very similar to what you've got in SD. Our kids are even pretty close in age. I've got a 6.5 yo boy and almost 4 yo twin girls.
