Question for those here with lifted 200's...WITH or WITHOUT DIFF DROPS added...

With my BP-51's now scheduled for install, along with UCAs...but no diff drop...

...Struggling with decision about diff drop or no diff drop, after being reassured that it's not really necessary on the 200 due to the more neutral angles compared to the 100... I had multiple CV issues on my 100 even WITH the drop...

If you have NO diff drop on your 200...can you describe how many miles you've put on it since...and the CV problems/or lack of...you've experience?

If you DO HAVE a diff drop...can you briefly describe CV experience pre/post?

Thanks for your input.

No diff drop, 20k miles on after the lift, zero problems! Knock on wood!

Why don't you talk to Slee? They just installed the BP's on mine and didn't advise to do it.

I won't give you advice. I'll leave that to the experts. Here's my experience. I also had a lifted 100 and did the dif drop since it was pretty much an automatic. Had minimal issues on the 100. On my 200, I drove without it for a year (approx 15k miles) and had no issues, and then put one on. At that time there were few options, and the tribal knowledge, probably from the 100 days, was to install one. So I did. No issues since either. If I was doing it again today, I'd probably stick with the advice of Slee and Kurt and not install it, but I don't think it can hurt to have it installed.

Thanks guys.

So I just talked to Slee again... Was very reassuring. Pretty close to zero problems on 200's without diff drop. Still interested in your experiences, but it's sounding quite good.

**The reason I asked again was because I JUST read a post by a guy here in another thread reporting problems with his 200's CVs until installing diff drop. I'm frankly skeptical about that claim...but given I'm installing lift next Wednesday, I thought it would be worth asking here from guy who use their Cruisers as I will be using mine.

I suspect...(as steenh) mentioned...that it might have been a considered a "given" due to past experience with 100's that needed help with angle.
Good to hear from y'all.

That was me about having issues with my CV's before I installed the diff drop and no longer had the problem. The first time my right CV boot was leaking badly and Toyota replaced it under warranty. The second time was a few months later and they replaced it again and recommended doing a diff drop and since it was only a $125 job (mostly labor cost) I did it and never had an issue while adding 85k+ miles since it was done. This problem was not created from daily driving but from off-roading(nothing hardcore) so I went with my Toyota mechanic recommendation and was issue free.

Curious what you used, as I know Slee has not created a diff drop kit for the 200. I used their 100 diff drop...but no go on the 200.
Did Toyota actually have a part for that???
Also... Kind of surprised Toyota still covered your CV's given that you had a lift installed. Good for them for that, though...

I have a great relationship with my dealership but they didn't even flinch on replacing it or even mentioned anything negative about the lift. I know someone said something about warranty issues and have never been denied warranty work because of my lift.

Toyota does have a part for it. Just talk to service and not the parts department first. Any issues, let me know and I'll get you at parts number. I have talked to Christo (Slee) on this and he is going to make one unless he changed his mind in the last couple of months

If it's that cheap...it kinda seems like it couldn't hurt to add it...

Do you have a part number? I'm really curious to ask my Toyota guy about it now...

I had my Diff drop done at Mountain States Toyota near Denver, and just left a message with my service tech to get me a parts number. I know they don't personally make one but they have a source to get them. Will let you know when I know.

As one of the very first to lift a 200 series, diff drops were not available at the time. I've ran for nearly 90K miles lifted without out and no issues.

I lifted front 2 unch with hard spring/ my coil over opens 25.6 i i am doing alot of craweling i brake twies the cv i did diff drop.no more cv brake

Hi Angelo1, Did you get a response to your question about the diff drop part number?

Just spoke with Toyota and they are going to order the part $59.95. Once it's confirmed they have it, I will provide pics and part number for it on the day of install.

Ok, the guy at Toyota said he couldn't order because 'TOYTech' does not have one for the 14MY+ models yet. However he can get it for the 08'-12'. I told him it's the same setup as the 08' he did for me. Apparently his parts dept. won't allow him to order it unless it's for the exact 'MY' they are ordering for to do the install and warranty the work. He did say I can order the diff drop for the "older MY" and they would install it. Guess I'll be making a call tomorrow.

LowRange is a good and well known company.
