TLCA Member Travel Grant Program

TLCA would like to show our appreciation for those members that give back to the community by offering travel grants. Giving back to the community may mean the TLCA community, or it might just mean their community at home. We envision this program being for those selfless folks that go above and beyond to be positive examples of TLCA in the world. Some examples might be using their Land Cruiser to help those in need. Or maybe organizing events to maintain areas for open access to OHV use. It could also be someone that has been greatly impacted by something outside of their control and has not been able to do the things they love because of it.

TLCA members will have the opportunity to travel to TLCA events. TLCA will reimburse up to $1000 in expenses incurred. (Gas receipts, hotels, Uhaul rental, car, flights, food, trail repairs, etc.). In the event that the member cannot drive or trailer their rig to the event, the host club and event will provide a passenger seat for them.

Live Like Lash Scholarship

Lash Lacoste left this earth in 2022 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was a vital part of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association community, serving on the Board of Directors of CottonLand Cruisers. Through the kind donations of clubs and members of the TLCA, this fund has been established in his name, to benefit people who are the future of the TLCA.

Lash was not the best student. He was B-C in high school and college. Many scholarships are geared towards top students and many kids do not have the opportunity to capture scholarship money if they aren’t straight A students. This scholarship is different. This scholarship will be awarded to students with a B or high C average, and most importantly, who exhibit the qualities that Lash exhibited throughout his life. These qualities are:
Humility
Kindness to all
Positive outlook
Patience
Not easily angered
Smiling and laughing all the time
Genuinely care for others and be involved in the community
Do more than asked
Give more than given
Think before speaking
Listen more than talking
Protect family
Love fiercely

With those qualities in mind, TLCA will award at least 1 “scholarship/grant” annually (dependent on fund availability). Children and Grandchildren of TLCA members can apply if they are between 15 and 22 years old. The Live Like Lash award can be used for the following purposes only:
High School
College
Technical School

I know we had talked about using a TLCA grant for some trail clean up equipment and a good trauma kit/1st aid kit that we could use for the already established trail clean ups we do and the trauma kit would be a great thing for our own events as well. I know we have a few trained medics/corpsman/EMT's in the club.
thoughts?

Yes we got a $500 grant from TLCA for sawyers gear. @Stumpalama had the list. If I can get a list of gear I will look into if we still have the grant.
