At least my Ford floor jack can lift 3 tons... otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. It seemed a little sketchy lifting the rear of a truck, with a 2.5 ton floor jack, that weighs 6000 lbs for the rear and 3700 lbs for the front on the scales.
If I'm lifting only one side it should be fine... although the drivers side does weigh 700 lbs more than the passenger side.
Just FYI on light. You don't have to drive to get one.
