Mine is all black, fold and tumble, and quick release… shame about the original source… but the curse word isn’t written on it. I’ve got jump seats, but after having a bench seat for 30 years I can’t see going back to jump seats… and no rear seats isn’t an option for 25 to life.
Personally I'd have no prob with it. Use what works and is available. Glad you're happy with it.

I’m not worried… by the time it’s installed and anyone sees it, these posts will long be forgotten… possibly even 1984ed. Then I’ll just tell people it was a custom seat. When they see how perfect it is and how slick it works they’ll want one. I’ll not share my source… trade secret. I’ll just sell them one for a small fortune. ;)

It's not that the seats don't work well, it's the whole concept of a seat in the back of a 40.

That space is for toolboxes and dogs.
My dogs are spoiled and like having a seat too.

With a flip of a lever these will fold up against the back of the bucket seats. Pull on another and it’ll lift out completely to make space for 3-4 bales of hay or whatever other crap you care to haul.

Everything is a compromise… in my case I need seats for at least 5 and space for 1-2 dogs. A 40 series is a compromise… wish it could be a 43 at least… or a troopy. By the time I’ve got time to modify it into one I’ll only need seats for 2 and sadly likely only one dog.

Well, my compromise was to cut the whole section that could seat other people off my 40.

Ok, I follow now. All this leaf sprung discomfort talk is quite foreign to me, lol...
Well you also have rear doors to get to the back seat...

Just getting to the back seat in a 40 is a pain in the ass.
At least with jump seats if you have ambulance doors it's reasonable, but a fold and tumble you'd have to climb over, so you're better off to squeeze past the front seats.

Never found it worth the hassle. But then I did make that other compromise that limited the spread of mini humans in my house...

I’ve never had ambulance doors on my ‘74. By the time you open the spare tire & tailgate, and open the hatch, climbing in from the front seems like less of a hassle. Especially since once in you can’t close them from the inside.

Even at 6’4” I can climb in and out of the back relatively easily. Although nothing in the back of a 40 is overly easy at 6’4”.

I think they forgot to lengthen the wheel base?

If I bought that, I wouldn't be seen in public with that box...

I don't know if spring flipping would be enough or if some chev springs would be in order.

Cab doesn't look terrible tho.

I had a look at a LJ78 parts truck in Nanaimo on Saturday. I decided to pass as it was not worth the tow to Victoria for my parts needs. But maybe someone else wants.

They're looking just to get what a wrecker would give them for it (offers).

Interior is pretty nasty as rats and black berries got in. Truck is mostly rust free with some small bubbles at back of rockers. Surface rust underneath. Is a 1991, but was painted to look like a KZJ78 (owners thought it was a 1995, which is why I looked at it for myself, but its not sadly). Turbo seals were shot and leaking oil: owners ran it out of oil and seized the motor. It's sat since then (years). Anyhow, running gear is good other wise it seems. Frame and axles are decent. e-hubs were replaced with manual ones. Doors/glass are good. Dash is good. Rad looks good. Etc.

If anyone is interested, let me know, and I'll pass you the owner's cell.

I put this on a fbook group and guy contacted me literally 10 seconds after I posted. He's picking it up tonight apparently on his trailer.

Sick truck. A real unicorn.

Wasn't it the g&s guy who built that?

I once had throwing my 12ht into a gasser 80 as a possibility, but the cheap ones kinda vanished right around the time I was thinking about it.

Not sure who built it, but I do remember you tossing around this idea at one time. Sort of neat to see it realized.
