Was at costco... Bfg are $70 off per set.

Guy there used to have a couple of 40s... Said they'll mount any tires you want now. 33x10.50 bfg ATs +/- $913 set installed with sale.

31x10.50s were $177 - $70 off set ifnyou buy 4... About what some people are asking for used ones.

I didn't ask about MTs.:D

Didn't ask.:D

Placed the order... All they asked is if I knew they'd fit on the vehicle. Told them they were smaller than the 33x12.50... They said ok, we'll call when they arrive.

Went to pick up the tires today...

What an ordeal:
First off they didn't want to mount the tires because they didn't have a torque spec for the lug nuts. They needed it in writing for a 1974... Even though I'm running 77 axles.
Secondly the tires were not factory size... After much debate, I got them to agree to mount them.
Thirdly for my hassle, and wasted time, they wanted to charge me about $100 more than what they quoted me when I ordered them.

Anyways, 2.5 hours or so later, I've got some new tires. So far, they seem tippier (which I hope will improve once they're not riding on the center 4.5" of the tire), more prone to the rear wheels locking, are almost as quiet as my Geolander ATs, the ride seems a little better, and they don't look like they belong at the track at Western Speedway.

Time to adjust the tire pressures, and fine tune the brake proportioning valve.

I've heard this story before: costco has cheap tires, but they're a pain in the ass to get them to mount anything that isn't factory spec, and that they even refuse to mount larger sizes

To do it again, I'd make sure I had the original price in writing, and then bring it back when the guy who said they'd do it was working.

Oh, and bring a shop manual so they know how tight to make the lug nuts.

Or just have them mount the tires on rims... So that they're not liable for what I choose to use them on.:hhmm:

I was ready to pull the tires off in the lot, but a high lift jack and no stands isn't very safe... And for the hassle, I'd be better off to pay the $964.99 at West Coast tire.
