If the tires are BFG All Terrain T/A KO2's, then they are NOT "285/65R18", they are LT285/65R18E 125/122R. If you look on the sidewall of the tire you will see LT in front of 285/65R18, followed by 125/122R and Load Range E.

Please check and confirm.

They say exactly what you posted above .125/122R

OK, so I have an '18 LC200 with an ARB bull bar and a winch... my guess is an extra 200 lbs out front.

Tires are Nitto Ridge Grappler 285-70-18

With the weight distribution being more up front shouldn't the pressures up front be higher?

For starters, Nitto do not make an ISO Metric Grappler in size 285-70-18. They make a 285/60R18 120T XL and a 265/70R18 116S SL, but no 285/70R18.

That aside, in general, no, tire pressures up front should not be higher. All 4 tires on a LC200 should be inflated to the same RCTIP.

OK - the sidewall says LT285/70R18 RIdge Grappler

It's almost impossible to judge correct tire pressure by looking at a pic, but that tire looks underinflated to me.

Just FYI, the Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure (RCTIP) for those LT285/70R18 tires on your LC200 is 38psi F/R.

If you mean the LT285/60R18 118/115S D-Rated tires on a stock LC200, then you are close to correct. In order to achieve the requisite Load Limit of >2,286 lbs, you would need a Cold Tire Pressure of 46psi.

Inflating to only 40psi would yield a Load Limit of only 2,070 lbs - almost 10% less than required. This would be like running the stock P285/60-18 tires at 27psi when they should be at 33psi. Safe? I wouldn't do it.

@gaijin would this tire be able to withstand the weight of a 2013 LX? Discount tire Algorithm says the c rated one doesn’t work but the 10 ply will.

“ It weighs 50.3 lbs, has a max load of 2755/2535 lbs, a maximum air pressure of 50 psi,”

My stock tires say:

“ It weighs 40 lbs, has a max load of 2756 lbs, a maximum air pressure of 50 psi”

What you have shown me here is not enough information to say for sure. Please select a specific tire make/model/size and I can give you a definitive answer.

This is the specific tire - please note there are multiple LT285/70/17 KO2 models.

OK, that makes it easy.

ALL LT285/70R17 BFG KO2 models are suitable for use on your LX570.

Specifically, the four models are:

- LT285/70R17/C 116/113Q Part Number 31812
- LT285/70R17/C 116/113Q Part Number 81501
- LT285/70R17/E 121/118R Part Number 89442
- LT285/70R17/E 121/118R Part Number 99728

The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure (RCTIP) for ALL of these 4 tire models on your LX570 is 35psi F/R.

Choose whichever model you want.

Awesome thanks! I wonder why they said the lightest model won’t work. So you’re sure the load capacity and speed rating are enough to handle my LX? Any concern if I decide to add weight to the vehicle or tow? Thanks again, brother!

It all depends on how you drive your LX.

As far as weight is concerned, all these tires are good up to the GVWR/GAWR of your vehicle - exceed the GVWR/GAWR and you're on your own.

As for speed, you should not be putting any A/T tire on a road racer. And, as with any tire, you need to be aware of the Speed Rating of whatever tire you choose. The R Rating is good up to 106mph, while the Q Rating is only good up to 99mph (Reference: BFG Tire Speed Rating Chart).

The detail on this list is great. I am having some trouble calculating the proper tire pressure. I have a 2010 LX570 with Nitto Recon Grapplers LT295/60R20 E 126/123S with no other gear or mods. What should I run?

What should I run?
No need to calculate.
Just fill to 35 psi and see how it rides.
Then fill to 40 psi and repeat.
Keep doing that up to the maximum pressure.

Depending on how heavy the vehicle is, the ideal pressure will be where the ride isn’t too harsh or too squishy and the vehicle coasts ok.
When I was fully loaded up on a big trip, I’d run maximum pressure in the rears and 5psi less in the front when on the freeway. Once I got off the pavement and I had a long dirt road ahead, I’d air down to 28 psi to soften the bumps and help prevent punctures.

Just try different tire pressures and take notice how the car drives. You’ll discover a sweet spot after experimenting a bit.

Hi,

Does the RCTIP above at 35psi also applies to the new KO3 in LT285/70/17 121/118S D-Rated on a 2008 LX570? Thanks..

Does your LX570 have the gas or diesel engine?
