Thanks for the input, I’ll call around tomorrow for some quotes. I do trust my shop (SD Trux) but I did think this seemed high. I’ll call the dealer and a few shops for context. Thx!
You’re in SD?? It’s a little bit of a drive but I’ve had really good luck with Joseph Park at Bajarex Motorsports in Orange. He’s a 2nd Gen Tundra expert and worked on my 200 several times. Very detail oriented. He’s also very quick and fair, and his shop just a stones throw from Angel Stadium so if you have to leave your truck (for a valley plate) you can take the train home.
Shoot him an email, I think he’s a one man show right now.

Copy that, thank you! I’ll give him a ring tomorrow.

Howdy all, the subwoofer in my LX has been sounding pretty garbled for some time now, and I'm at the end of my rope. I almost exclusively use this truck for camping with the kids, and I can no longer stand overhearing Bluey or PAW Patrol DVD's without the proper bass.

I removed the sub last night and assumed I would find that it needed a refoam, but the foam appeared to be in good shape. When the sub is playing, if I push lightly on it, the distortion goes away, and then returns when I remove my hand. See video below.

I'm about to shell out for a full replacement sub assembly, but wanted to see whether there were other less expensive options before pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

Have you tried extra foam/insulation around its circumference on top of the existing black foam? You'd have to reinstall the trim piece and confirm the fix. I don't know if that having extra tension would also do a similar mechanical fix like your hand did.

I see where you're going with this, thanks for the suggestion. Removing all that interior molding was a pain though...and I'd like to do this in one shot. The original sub lasted for nearly 20 years, so I'm OK to go the replacement route.

Edit: Bell Lexus North Scottsdale is having a promo, which just started today. I got the full assembly for $666.49. P/N is 86150-0W100, for the Mark Levinson stereo sub. That pricing is good enough for me! (MSRP is $1,027.72) Free shipping and no sales tax helps...

Did you get the valley plate work done?
Yes I did...forgot to follow up. The quote that SD Trux provided over the phone included a few other work items beyond the valley plate, which I didn't realize at the time I posted my question above. I want to say it was about $2,300, but I don't have the invoice infront of me to confirm atm.

I will take the old one off your hands...I don't have a sub enclosure and I wanted to add one.
