HI,

I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a hand throttle plate for a two barrel Aisin caby. I have a 1970 FJ40 with the hand throttle knob on the dash and the hand throttle cable goes straight to the carby. This is not the hand throttle that attaches to the accelerator pedal. There must be a plate that holds the cable and then a point on the carby that attaches the wire (like the accelerator cable) but I have not ever seen a part number or a parts diagram that shows the connections. My car had the cable in the dash but the original carby was gone. I now have the correct carby for the 1970 model (or nearly so) but this carby does not have the connections. The hand throttle is often used to increase the revs when using the PTO winch.
 
There's a `69 only carb that was a stop gap 2 barrel that had linkage for the dash mounted hand throttle. The carb itself was not an improvement over the earlier single barrel, and definitely worse than the improved 2 barrel used 69-73.

Here's a bad picture of my 69 before I pulled that carb. You can see the throttle plate that accepted the hand throttle cable to the right.

I've since replaced it with the improved early 70's carb, but there's no obvious way to connect that dash mounted hand throttle. Some have custom made linkage.
 
The throttle plate you speak of would have been on a fire truck engine. It’s use was opposite to what you are thinking: it was a mechanical rev limiter. The linkage on the plate ran to a mechanical tachometer on the front of the engine.
I have one of the tachometers in the classifieds. It’s been there forever. Ready to toss it.

What about the 3/69-9/69 mark? It had the hand throttle too. USA only maybe?

My Australian plate says the car was imported in March 1979 and my frame number is a late 1969. So I may have had the stop gap 1969 carby that accepted the dash mounted throttle cable . You called it a linkage but mine is a wire cable I now have an early 70's carby.

The carbs after 9/69 no longer used a carb-anchored throttle cable; short cable run under the dash to the gas pedal. Clean setup when done right.

Those of us determined to run the earlier cable on the later model carb have had to be…inventive ::hillbilly:

Hey Mark, do you have any pics of how you've done this? I have been trying to come up with a solution as well. I still have the dash mounted cable and replaced the 69 carb with an early 70's cable carb.
