There’s an old parking lot-style floor drain in the middle of the floor that’s long been filled in. It was filled an inch high and was a tripping & floor jack hazzard.

I probably spent about two hours grinding this mofo down, but I made sure to save just enough of the cast lettering. You can skate over this on a creeper without even a skip.

That’s pretty cool, glad you saved the history.

Fortunately, the Sloth calendar has a few extra months!

I went by at midnight and laid down the third and final coat, then went by this afternoon to check it out and measure for my pallet/storage racks. It’s still a little soft and tacky, but should be cured for foot traffic tomorrow, and vehicle traffic after 48 hours.

Looks really good!

That looks great. Be careful it may be slippery when wet. Is the lift coming soon now ?

BYO walker if you are prone to fall, for sure.

This more of a spa than a raw mechanic shop, so it won’t see a lot of liquids, but they get cleaned ASAP when it does happen.

You can add anti-slip to the top coat, but I didn’t to keep it easy to sweep & mop.

The lift is still down the road a little unless I find a deal on a clean used unit. I’ve got a big bill coming up with some pallet/storage racking that I’ll need to overcome first.

The warehouse style shelving can be had cheap used and cheap new as well actually. I redid the parts department I take care of now(ac parts) 14 foot tall uprights new were about $50 and 8 ft cross beams were $13 used in great shape. The wire shelving was about $12 a section it takes 2 to do 8 foot beams .( buy the cascading version). There is a place in west Atlanta that makes warehouse shelving and several local used shelving dealers. I bought from both and different dealers will have different shelving at times. Make sure it is secure when you install it. Don't buy an obsolete version. Part of my warehouse has uprights that are no longer sold in America.

not sure, i think i see jesus in your floor details, err maybe that was an alien reflection?
I see the number 10 on the right side of your floor drain with the Machine works name on it...the year maybe?

Definitely a reflection of a higher power!

The building was built in the 40’s, so it must refer to a model number or drain capacity.

I kicked out the dumpster for good. Anything else will be burned or tossed over the fence.

You’ll notice the lumber in the first pic - I made a track through the soft asphalt with 2x12s. I tested it out, along with the new floor, which held up great to turning the wheel sharply. Didn’t even leave a mark.

I needed the dumpster out and the forklift track in place to receive my shipment of pallet racking and other loot, which showed up today....

I'd recommend following Nolen's lead: Mack-daddy interior, and just soak the exterior of the building down in Fluid Film to preserve the patina.

I’m going with one of these packing tables for a desk/clean space:

...this welded steel table for clean parts/motor assembly:

...and this drainable teardown table for dirty sh!t and an overflow clean table:

Any more than that, and it just becomes a place to collect junk.
