Picked up an MTD 2-stroke tiller last year for a few bucks. Older 2005 model that needed some work. Was talking about needing a new fuel nipple for the purge outlet to a guy at my work who builds and races RC hydroplanes, and today he brings in a 13mm bore Walbro that matches the footprint of mine (which is a 7.8mm bore) and says "give this a try and see if it'll run".

So yeah this could be a fun weekend

I figure if I don't flood the engine out, I could possibly overheat it, so I'll be watching the temp like a hawk to see how it does.

My father has a Montgomery Ward tiller that he bought in the early seventies. Just stock, that thing will pull you along and takes some muscle - and body mass - to control. I'm not sure I'd want the "more woopah" version of it!

I was hoping to test it out this weekend, but since the stock configuration has a purge circuit and the bigger bore carb doesn't, I have to find something to plug the extra hole in the fuel tank, then I can fill it up and play around.

Well that fizzled before it even left the ground.

The impulse hole on the bigger carb is WAY off from the OEM cab so that's a no-go entirely
