I am stuck in Manhatten for the next 2-3 days, what is there to do while I am here? Anything of particular intrest that I need to check out? I'm in town while my wiener dog has back surgery. So just really killing the next few days.

Well, I spent 5 of the best years of my life there......

Try out Rusty's last chance on Moro street of Aggieville. Decent bar, great fries. There is a new beer that is brewed in Manhattan, Tallgrass. Try the ale.

If there is a k-state baseball game in town, check it out.

Go to Pat's blue ribbon for the sweet potato fries.

On the west side of town there is wildcat creek on anderson, west of westloop... there is a walking trail and park there.

Tuttle creek up the road is pretty cool -- great spillway area, and you already know the offroad parts.

If old buildings are your thing, walk through the campus. Cool buildings are the Library, Seaton, Union, Allen field house.

If you need good chinese at 2 AM, look accross the street from the bars.

If you like pizza with crust to dip in honey, try Pyramid.

Thanks for the input! I'm here alone so I think I will skip the bar scene.

Listen to George ......

"I drink alone --- all by myself"

I'll check on the Zoo. I am here until at least Friday, if not Saturday.

BTW: My dog is out of surgery and doing fine. That is the reason I am in Manhattan, she is at the KSU vet school for spinal surgery.
How well she does after surgery determines when her and I get to go home.

Thanks for the input.

Glad to hear that your pup is doing good. You are in good hands -- probably the best place in the region to take an animal.

I know your fj is going purple -- maybe for a reason!

I just ordered my air compressor --- what color you ask? -- purple!!!

GO K-STATE!

Well IT certainally won't be Husker red!!! They called this evening and told me she was doing fine, but still groggy from the anethesia. I get to go see her tomorrow.

I have always heard good things about KSU vet school, and that is why we are here. They help diagnois another dog of mine a few years ago, and it was a rare disease.

Going home today, thanks for all the suggestions.

That sounds like good news that you are going home earlier than expected....

Is your pup doing good.

They report very slight movement in her back legs. She is still not urinating on her own, but they will teach me today how to express her bladder, and her theraputic exercises today before we get to go home.

Wow......it's been a long time since I heard that name. That was a popular spot for lunch when I was in high school. Unfortunately sometime in the late '90s it closed. When I left in 2000 I think it was So Long Saloon. Thanks for the blast from the past!

I am not sure if I should feel sad that it is gone, sad that I have not been to aggieville for a while, or just sad that I am getting old.

Good thing I have A.D.D. -- wow look at that shiny button!! ;);)

I ate at the So Long Saloon on Thursday, everyone in town said it was the best burgers in town. Well.....If that is the best burgers in town I would hate to try the rest. I wasn't impressed.

The pooch and I got home Friday afternoon about 4:30. She is slowly improving, she is urinating on her own now so I don't have to squeeze the pee out of my wiener dog. She is slowly regaining strength in her back legs, but not walking yet. They said that could take up to 2 weeks. Anyhow, it was nice visiting Manhattan, the folks there were very nice, not just the ones at the vet school. Everyone I met was nice.

Thanks for all the suggestions of what to do while I was there.

Pam
