Well, Rubicon 26 once again delivered a fun adventure filled trip! We started with another big thunderstorm big downpour, but was quickly gone after 30 minutes ( I love the volatile weather this time of year in the sierras!.) we did a day trip from rocky point to the recently opened RTF trail near Buck island. Some new challenging trail with some pretty nasty drops, climbs and off camber slabs! We had six trucks this year and almost a couple flops! Of course my buddy always provides us with breakage!! Broken pinion on second day!! Luckily I went back to rubicon springs and sourced a third member from the camp caretaker Tony T! It had been sitting behind a shed for years and was crusty and didnt spin! We ended up using the good ring gear with the locker and freed up the pinion bearings with oil, and set up the backlash by feel!! 4 hours later back on the trail! He ended up doing the whole thing, and about a mile after coming up caddilac hill, he broke a front leaf spring!! We were able to drive out without incident. We also had another huge bear visit camp!! Cant wait for next year and planning some changes to my rig!!
