Back on topic, I do like these trayback/canopies. I like the ease of access to equipment.... and not having to open a tire swingout, every time. There are companies starting to import them and I think some local builders starting to offer them.

I hear ya.
The Tacoma isn't my type of thing, wheezy engine, cheaply made chassis and not a fan of the interior.
I considered sourcing a dual cab 70 series for my current build but they're just so damn long. Extending the 80 series chassis that much would be a task. At that point you might as well get a Tundra which are already enourmous for 3rd world roads. If I wasn't building the Troopy I'd get another single cab 2nd gen Tundra like I had before, SAS it and swap out the bed for a tray like above.
