First pic will show where the floor will get cut too.

2nd pic is where ill cut frame to roughly and cut down bumper and put in place.

The cruiser has some already predefined cut points. If you were to cut anything else than you'd have a lot more fab work.

Last pic.... ooops cut the gas line. Sawzall is not a precision cutting tool...

last one for now.

There is going to be an abundance of room once exhaust is gone and rockers.

Do I need the cats?? A simple exhaust with muffler would be ideal. I have had people comment on how quite cruiser was. I want to maintain that.

This is a great build! I'm pulling for you. Did you somehow think you were going to get away without buying a welder for something like this?

It's looking pretty sweet...cut those rockers and stuff the sliders up high enough so they are flush with the floor board. That's where the Franken80's are and we have still used them even running 40's....

no, ive been meaning to learn forever and a day, just have not done it. Now I have no choice unless i want to drop a lot of coin on a fab guy. Which I dont.

ya rockers are going. There is more cutting to come next time im home. I leave for work in a few hours and wont be home for a few weeks.

I parked the cruiser in the garage to keep her dry and content for a few weeks.

I am back from work so some time for more chopping and planning is in order.

So I took out the starter and broke it down. I think I have further to break it down but have not gone all way yet. My no start issue can be many things.

I have eliminated that wire on top of tranny aince my dash lights are all lit up. The button byu the shifter has been pressed in with no start so thats not it. I have switched different batteries and jumped her to no avail. I have wiggled all wires and hit starter with hammer and nothing. I can hear what I think is starter going so I think its getting power but something not working.

Does this look in bad shape?? I think I will order a rebuild kit for it and rebuild it. That way I know its good shape no matter what.

few more, should I break the starter down as far as I can??? I have not researched how to rebuild them yet so I guess I will find out when I do.

So here is a few pics with the front doors off.
IMAG0305.jpg
IMAG0306.jpg
IMAG0307.jpg

I am currently debating if i want to leave the door frames intact or just get rid of it all minus windshield. The only benefit of leaving door frames intact is to be able to put doors back on later if I want, say for winter wheeling.

IMAG0309.jpg

That's a hard call for your area! There's benefits to removing and also leaving the doors! LOL. Either way... you'll be content I think!

My take on the windshield is this: It'll never survive a roll and prolly not even a flop... so that's why I planned the cut around taking it off. Also, I'll never be "going so fast" that I'll need it. Just something to consider if you do decide to take the doors off for good.

Well I thought of that, the only windshield need would be for keeping snow or rain or mud outa my face. I can always bundle up for wet weather or cold weather. If the wife dont like it she doesnt have to go. The windshield I will leave intact for now just to keep elements from hitting me head on.

So I cut off the sliders on passenger side, they may get reused, i also chopped off exhaust. In the back i did a bit more trimming and measuring on where im going to put that bumper.

so if i sell all the stuff i cut off combined with the scrap ill be getting a welder next time im home.

the cats should be like a 100 bucks on there own.
IMAG0313.jpg

Also decided that the seats and all there electronic stuff have to go.

If no one buys my front doors and I decided to hack them up im gonna do some half doors.

I stole this pic from here on mud, id do like this but a bit more cutting. I painted where I would cut.

so i tore starter apart, cleaned everything real well and put it back in hoping it would work. Nope but i didnt really know what to look for while had it tore apart so coulda been bad. Its a denso reman unit by the way. Also took out seats and heater and center console.
