V12? :d

tjk

I'm just messin' with ya.

I'm keeping this thing w/ a 2F. It is my way of not having too many horses available which would let me break too much stuff.

I'm headed down to Atlanta tomorrow to get the guys at Atlanta Custom Creations to help me out. I'll have a motor back in my Pig by the end of January, maybe sooner! I've worked with Michael Hartness before and have always been impressed. I talked to Brian this morning and it is a 180 degree difference to have a couple of guys working for you who know 2Fs like the back of their hand. I'm psyched! :bounce::bounce2:

HERE PIGGIE PIGGIE PIGGIE,,,,SOOOOOOOOOIIIEEEE PIGGIEEEEE!!!!!

I just picked up my parts from the local machine shop.

I have a shiny, turned crank.

The flywheel has been surfaced.

The timing gear cover was hot tanked and the old gasket cleaned off. It was on like concrete.

The oil pan was not hot tanked but it appeared that it had been pressure washed and the old gasket (again on like concrete) was ground off.

Thats it for the work they did.

I'm off to Atlanta Custom Creations tomorrow to get this baby rolling again.

I do still need to purchase a few things. I need a cam - I'm thinking Downey Torquer. I picked up the CCOT lifters. Need timing gears - OEM are expensive so I'll check my options from the rebuilder. I might need new pistons and rings but I'll let the engine rebuilder handle that. Oh, and bearings - rebuilder can handle that too.

I just got an email from Atlanta Custom Creations. My 2F should be ready for pick-up in about 1-2 weeks!

Now that is service!!!

It was a night and day difference working with a Cruiser shop versus a generic machine shop.

I did about 1.5 hours of work last night cleaning up some parts and designing my rear bumper. I'm taking the IPOR bumper my Pig came with and adding dual swing-outs for my spare tire and 2 Jerry cans. I had to redo my old swing-out b/c the arm wasn't thick enough (1/8" vs 3/16"). I'm also adding rear quarter panel protection with some 2" x 3/16" square tube.

My Piggie will make GSMTR 09 in June and hopefully will be running again under her own power by first of March.

:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

I got about 6 hours in yesterday. I prepped a bunch 'o parts for my rear swingout. The basket my 2 Jerry cans will sit is is fabbed. I have to get my rear bumper straightened before I go any further. I'm going to try and get it dropped off today for that work to be done.

I'm headed back out into the garage in a few minutes to weld some expanded metal onto my sliders to help w/ traction and muddy boots. I'm also going to cut out 2 of the last areas of rust on the body and weld in some new metal.

I couldn't do any painting yesterday b/c it was too cold. Hopefully it will be warm enough today.

Replacement rear passenger's quarter window is reinstalled with help from the :princess:. I also welded in some expanded metal ontop of my sliders to help with muddy boot traction.

PS: drunk welding is hard.

PSS: also dropped my rear bumper off with a friend who is going to sand blast it, straighten the bumper, and weld in my jerry can swing-arm pivot for me.

Painted body mounts, clutch cover, alt mount? and bell housing. I need to paint the forward part of the bell housing still.

Pulled the hood off and started prepping it for paint. I have some rust on the front end (rusting from the inside out) that I can't reach well b/c I can't get the latch spring off - so - I wire wheeled off as much as I could get to and then I slathered it with some rust coverter. Next I'll shoot as much primer in that space and then some paint...its all I can do without a major effort. Worst case down the road I'll pick up another hood.

Pulled my two rear wheels off. They were originally black wagon wheels. One of the PO's painted them gray. I don't like the gray so I wire wheeled all the gray paint off and raddle canned them with Rustoleum flat black.

I need to source some 2 inch x 3/16 in (or so) HREW tubing. I need to tie the sliders to the frame. It appears the sliders were tied into the frame at some point. Do any of the PO's know why these supports were cut out?

I'm also thinking about bending some tube to tie the front bumper into the sliders. The tubing will bolt to the front bumper and clamp to the sliders so I can remove it.

I'm also planning on having a buddy sand blast the rear part of my frame (from the firewall back) and I'll paint it with probably RustBullet.

I'll take some pics and post them up soon.

I never liked those gray wheels. I don't remember who did that but it wasn't me.

I have no idea about the sliders. If I had to guess I would say that they were how they are now from the beginning - I think maybe they came from Lance's "Rock Lobster" truck. Maybe TJK knows.

Where are you going to run tube from the front bumper to sliders? Following the edge of the fenders?

The wheels were originally white. I painted them the closest match to the factory grey wheels.

I had sliders built here in town. When we did the SOA, Lance didn't like the design so we cut them off and built new sliders. At about 3 am. I don't recall cutting any supports out.

The tube (if I do it) will follow the lines of the front fenders...I think. I had originally planned on making tube fenders where I integrate the tube into the fenders - kind of like how Lance @ IPOR made his. The more I think about it though it would be more work and depending on how I go about it I would have to scrap a pair of nice fenders.

Upstate Cruisers has a club tube bender that I need to have some fun with. :D

I'll take some pics. You can see on the frame rails where what I think are some slider braces were welded. There are no weld marks on the sliders themselves - so it seems the slider/frame braces are from a previous set of sliders.

Todd - are you coming to GSMTR this year? You have got to see your new Pig.

Yooper - you should come down too!!!

I tried to weld up the Jerry Can basket large enough to allow for one of the cans swelling in the sun. I plan on carrying one water can and one gas. How the basket fits now I suspect the gas can might swell enough to stick...o well. I'm not going to reweld it now. If it does become a problem I'll just cut two of the top bars off, bend the corner pieces out, and reweld the top bars into place.

Does anyone know the correct length for a 55's choke cable? I FUBAR'd mine removing my original 2F. Would a choke cable from a 40 fit?

Those circular marks are where the first set of (tube) sliders were removed. That was a fun job.

I'm not a fan of black wheels but those look good.

Planning on GSMTR, yes. Looking forward to it.

Gotcha

I'm OK with black - I mainly wanted to get rid of the gray b/c it was getting chipped and looked old and tired.[/quote]

Good - do you think Yooper will make it down from the Great White North?

The :princess: wants to drive the Pig at GSMTR - she originally was going to drive the FJC but is afraid to hurt it...she isn't so much afraid of hurting the Pig.
