As I mentioned in the beginning, the Sub is one of the last pieces of the puzzle and is in transit to me at the moment. Paradice Cruiser, Clownmidget and Alia176 all have functioning subs in place already.

Funny that the mirror was mentioned. That is an older pic and the rear vierw mirror is not the same. I forgot about that part. Currently I have a Scion TC auto-dimming mirror with a three-channel Homelink.....:D The Vuarnet stickers are on that one now......

Dan,

Hey man, when I had a port call in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, I notice that on their 80 overhead console was a sub tank fuel gauge and a subtank fuel switch.

That side pic is nice, do you have front and rear manual locking hubs on your axle or just another illusion. :D

The JDM overhead has the compass and an altimeter. The OZ (and aparently other markets with sub-tank availability) overhead has a sub fuel gauge and an altimeter. What you see as locking hubs is actually the OEM steel wheel center caps. They have the Toyota circular emblem embossed in the end and it kinda looks like a knob if you squint.......

Dan, can you get a hold of more of those consoles and if so how much. Also I am very interested in the Mirror with the homelink, was this an easy install, where did you pull power from, the light. What would one of those set me back. I hate haveing remotes strapped to the sun visor.

The compass set-up is close to a thousand bucks by the time you buy all the pieces and that does not include the effort to modify the sunvisors or build the wiring harness to the magnetic field sensor.

The TC mirror is about 200 bucks and is fairly easy. It attaches to the windshield with a "button" as opposed to the original mirror that mounts to the header. I got an aftermarket button and glued it to the windshield and then attached the mirror. The button is the "Chrysler" type IIRC. I pulled power from the dome lamp and the sunroof motor as there is a constant hot and a switched hot required for the mirror. The switched hot powers the dimming function and the constant powers the map light and the Homelink.

Update your list:

Tundra horns
TRD "very limited edition" front pillar pod
TRD boost gauge

I'm sure I'll think of a few more. :D

Also, in Australia the sub-fuel transfer switch is a pushbutton on the dash (in 1997 anyway).

Dan your wheels are stock in Australia. The usual wheels seen here in the States only came on real high end 80s.

Is your tailgate Australian or JDM? I think VX was the high end Australian model.

Great truck!

I think he just slapped on the VX badge/decal and the rear plate holder/relocator (Beo also?).

I could be wrong.

Do you have a link for JDM parts?

I would like to get things like the roof console, headlight squirters, leveling headlights, etc. I think there are some guys on the International board in AB, Canada that part out JDM cruisers.

Where can I get a "Stout Equipment front bumper" I like the hidden winch look.

You can't, unless Grant Mossman comes out of retirement. He made exactly Two 80 series bumpers before he closed his shop. The one I have with a winch mount and one without a winch mount.

Aammigia:

Give me a PM if you're interested, I know someone (in Toronto) that has and can build amazing quality custom bumpers, powder coated for a reasonable price. He is part of a club I belong to and has designed and built a very similar bumper for a Disco.

I've had some preliminary conversations with him on building me a new drawer system in aluminum as well as an aluminum rack (he has made one for his truck that is amazing) and I think the prices are very reasonable (e.g., ~C$1,000 for an aluminum rack!)

Cheers, Hugh

Looks great cbizkit. Only really gotta change 2 things, the color and the driver :flipoff2:

Seriously, looks great. Maybe some day I'll see it in person. Maybe now you can work on upgrading your avatar :flipoff2:
