Well I now have everything to build the front and rear axles. The rest of my seals, bearings and OH YEAH...I've got gears!!!!:bounce::bounce: came yesterday. 4.88's baby.

Just gotta tear everything apart now. Waiting on my garage work to get started.

Slee's 4 inch with Bilstein 7100's. Haven't ordered it yet, I am getting other stuff done first. Most importantly work on my garage.

Sweet !,

Are you planning on doing the gears yourself?
Where did you purchase them and what brand?
Sorry for all the ?? but I have been putting this (and the knuckle rebuild) off for too long.

Thanks,

Factory lockers front and rear.

I got the gears from Ring and pinion biz in the vendor section. They are Precision brand with the master intall kits. It was $ 845 to my door. They also have everything to rebuild the front and rear axles. I bought all of the seals from CDan, but I bought their wheel bearings(Chinese).

I seriously thought about doing the gears, I work with a guy that has done a few (9") and we talked about it, the big problem is getting a set of "dummy" bearings. I talked to the gear guys and they said not to worry about getting the carrier bearings, the pinion bearings yes, but the carrier bearings rarely wear out, so save your money there. Well those are the "dummy" ones you need.

So I will just tear everything down and haul the thirds to the driveline shop in Carson. He quoted me $ 250 per third. His shop is less than 10min from my office, so that will make it easier.

I am collecting parts right now, I have too much going on right now to tear into it. So it will be a few months. Most likely November before I get into the hard parts. I am getting ready to get some serious work done on my garage. I have two single car openings. Well the guy that built the house, was a brick mason and built the house out of brick. The problem is that he arched the door openings andl I can barely get the 80 in my garage. So I am getting the brick cut away and one single 20' wide x 8' tall garage door installed.:bounce: They have to frame everything out to support the roof of the garage, then cut the brick, then the real frame, then the door install. Getting all of the permits and engineering done now, hoping they can get started soon.

WHEW!!!
That sounds like a hell of a lot of work to get your rig in and out of the garage...I BET that is a pricy lil house mod...
Im sure it will be worth it in the end!
Are you gonna end up having to mess with the shafts after the lift?
Do 80's require a castor adjust?

Good luck with it and if you need any help...
Im not too bright, but I can lift heavy stuff!:D

The garage mod is very spendy, but yeah it will be worth it. Two almost worthless manual doors for one huge useful door is going to be awesome.

The rear driveshaft is good, the front will come with a DC shaft with the kit. For Castor Slee sells Castor Plates. I found a barely used set that will save me a few dollars.

I appreciate the offer of help, I will let you know.

I can't lift heavy stuff but I'm fun to watch.:grinpimp:

And I think I owe you some wrench time.

Well I picked up my ARB bumper today, that was fun unloading it when I got home.

Some other parts made it as well. Now I just have to find time to get everything installed.

You a funny guy:D I had to cut the crap out of my 4runner ARB when I did the straight axle conversion, I'm just bolting this one on. That really hurt to chop up a bumper like that.

I appreciate the vote of confidence.

I will be out of town next week (San Diego for work)

Out of town the following weekend

Then we leave the first part of October and will be gone for two weeks, but after that, I should be ready to go, both with parts and the space to do it.

I can't wait...
