I saw a pic of the Elios - I am not sure that will work. She has to carry all of her business cleaning gear.

My inlaws have had two Prius (Priui?). They get better around town than on the highway at about 53 mpg. Highway for them is around 51.

The V is heavier - - honest mileage looks like around 42 mpg.

We will also be looking at the Rav4 and the Scion xB.

I'm leaning toward selling the '85 4Runner at this point vs having 4 cars . . . I think we will turn my 2004 4runner into more of an off-road vehicle and run it with the club. Let me know if you are looking for a '85 4runner. I will post up info when the time comes in the right part of the boards.

2004 4runner - - what is needed to prep for more off-road:

Needed Badly:
Underbelly protection from tranny to transfer case
Rear ARB air locker
Winch
More permanent install of CB and/or HAM

Maybe someday:
33's -will require some alterations around wheel wells
swap front springs to heavier/taller
UCA's w/ no rubbing w/ bigger tires

Updates:

I ordered the Ricochet underbelly transmission protection today to go along with my existing engine skid plate. Would have preferred steel based on your all's feedback, but I can basically get tranny protection for $110 vs going back with Bud Built for $750 to $1200. If/when I have the $$ or go more dedicated with the '04, I can upgrade to BudBuilt or other.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on the M8000 winch for the 2004, as well. $575 on Amazon right now.

I am pretty sure at this point that the 85 4runner and the Lexus GX470 need to go and we need a truck in their place. A lot has changed in the last year for us :\

I started a small "farm" business for mowing, rototilling, selling veggies, eggs, chicken coops, chicken coop rental (possibly), etc. May have to go Tundra to pull our trailer to haul the mowers, etc. Would love to stick with a 1st Gen Tacoma for cost/economy.

Anyhoo - prepping for SMORR!

We are tentatively moving to the Raleigh area in the coming months. It has been one of the toughest decisions of my life as there are so many good things happening here in KC for us and for the larger community.

We will be moving to my company's North American headquarters, so that will provide plenty of opportunity for me for jobs for the long-term, vs potentially fighting to keep a job in KC seemingly ever 6 months.

The TLCA club in Raleigh seems to be VERY active. We would obviously love to reconnect with TAC members for wheeling in NC - so there would be an open invitation to visit and wheel in the future :) We WILL be taking the '85 4Runner unless we have financial issues. I am sold on pulling it with a trailer in the future.

We are targeting living on the WEST side of Jordan lake there, so we will be CLOSER to the mountains, have good public schools and a small-town lifestyle - - oh by the way - - also closer to trails! :)

As someone who recently completed a large move, I wish you luck. How much time do you have to find a new place and get your current place sold/boxed up?

Ryan - I don't know yet - I will likely travel out and live there alone a while before we sell our place and move the family, we intend to have our home on the market before Christmas, but we need to finalize everything, first. It really depends on how fast our home sells, here, before we are all moved there.

We have the common issue of having to probably move twice so that we have plenty of time to look for the new place, but . . .we don't want to move our kids school's twice more - we already put them through a move a year and a half ago :( I am trying to avoid moving three to four times - - I move once to temp housing, then to an apartment and then we all move the an apartment (hopefully the same one) and then later to a home.

I could see me starting work there in mid-January, us selling our home in January, closing in late February and then moving the family out at closing time as the earliest possibility.

I tried to speak with a lot of folks, but didn't catch everyone today as we had to get to a funeral by 4 PM and barely made it, but we did move forward with the offer for the position in Raleigh NC and we will be moving out there before June 1.

I wanted to tell everyone here thank-you for all the good times, information, help, education, beer and a lot of other good stuff! Being around you all has taught me to work more on my vehicles, obviously tons about Toyota and the benefits of the vehicles, and it has been a great pleasure to hang out with everyone!!

We look forward to still possibly coming back out and doing stuff with the club, too, so don't count us out for anything :)

Old house is sold and we will be fully moved to Pittsboro NC by mid May.

I'm already a member of the TLCA club out there, Olde North State Cruisers, so I will be a dual member for a while :)

Hope to keep in touch and even attend events from time to time with TAC!

Both the Charlotte guys and the Raleigh guys go to Uhwarrie Nat'l Forrest several times a year. It is a little over an hour from our new home in Pittsboro, so hope to get out and trail ride a good bit.
