Hi, @77pantera,

Is there a reason that you installed another hitch below the factory one behind the panel indicated here? Is there an advantage to using the aftermarket one?

(Not judging, just trying to learn.)

From my understanding, you need the lower hitch to run a weight distributing hitch which allows you to hit the actual max tow rating of the vehicle (I can’t remember that number).

I also didn’t know there was a cover/plate for the bumper hitch. The LX I bought didn’t have it. To Lexus parts I go lol

When you install that cover, resist the urge to use a trim tool, screwdriver, or key (like the salesman did in front of me when I was viewing my 2005 LX...thus gouging the f out of the paint).

It simply snaps into place by pressing towards the front of the vehicle. To remove, stick your hand under the bumper and you can access the back of that panel and push it away from the vehicle, thus releasing it without scratches.

I can't edit the post above. I meant to write:

That’s good to know. Thanks!

Rig looks sweet! Any more pictures?
Don’t want to flood this page, and do not have a proper build thread set up yet. Here are a couple of pictures from the past couple of years. 3X locked, 35s, armor, and lots of seat time.

Nice to be able to camp in the desert in January! I lead a group 16 vehicles from our Land Cruiser club through the Calico Mountains. The other 100 on the run was @menancyandsam in the white LX470. If interested, a bunch of photos from this run can be found here.

Looks like I missed out!
It would have been nice to see you out there but I think you will have some great new adventures in MT! Since this is a photo thread, here is one of you squeezing through some rocks up in Big Bear.

The aftermarket one makes a much better skid plate on the trail!
