@Bomar and his buddy from Huntsville, Kevin, and I hit the National Park early on Thursday morning, starting with the Old Ore road on the east side of the park.

Big Bend Grogan told us not to miss the Ernst Tinaja (which is Spanish for "bitchin' canyon"). I could have spent all day climbing around in there, but the light was wrong for cool pics. Will definitely hit this spot again with the kids.

The Rio Grande is a bit underwhelming the first time you see it. The canoe on the Mexican side takes a ride over every day to drop off crafts for sale and to pick up the money.

Next we ran up to the Mariscal Mine- which was an old cinnabar ore mine that ceased operation in the 1940's. Cinnabar is refined into mercury and this mine supplied up to a 1/4 of the mercury in the US until it closed. It also killed a bunch of Mexican workers. Supposedly all the brinks are still so contaminated with mercury you can't touch them. True or not it keeps asshats from wrecking the ruins.

After the mine, we rode up Black Gap Road towards the campsite for the night. Black Gap was one of the most fun off-road routes I've done in the 100. Legit without tearing up your s***. I hate to think of all the minivans and mom suvs that ate it on that road. Not many pics because I was having too much fun driving. We met up with Grogan at the end of this run and hit camp just in time for a killer sunset, superb Bomar pork chops and some Wild Turkey time.

Sunrise wasn't bad either. A cool fog had settled into the park and made for some nice mountain conditions. Since we're on the ass-end of the central time-zone, the sun didn't rise until 7:00, so I didn't have to get up crazy early to catch it.

BBG led us on a killer drive through the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. Checking out these old homesteads it really drives home what spoiled pussies we all are in our climate controlled trucks with refrigerators in the back. You had to be a true hardass to farm out here.

Santa Elena Canyon is right in-between the National and State parks. An easy hike and great views. Wall? It's already here.

Would have loved to see this rock when it broke off the top of the wall. It broke off the Mexican side and landed in the US. Still waiting to be deported.

2nd night campsite in the State Park and the first night with the whole band. Everyone remained sober. It was inspiring.

PMC's soul was so disturbed by the stories it heard it tried to get up and leave. Fireman's soul just went to take a piss.

Another crazy-foggy pre-sunrise. Slack-asses all missed it.
