The FK fuel tank thread…

So you had a shop install these tanks, were they wary of installing aftermarket parts on a (currently) rare and unfamiliar vehicle?

Thanks for answering all the questions thus far.
One last question. I’ve watched the FK video and watched the florida mechanic video.
In the Florida video it shows him cutting part of the fuel pump plastic away to fit a new sensor. The FK video had nothing on that.
The question is: did that part come with written instructions or was it covered in a different video that FK had?
It may simply be that I’m watching 600 videos and yours is a 700 but thought I’d ask.
PS - I’m part of the you do you crowd and will never ask a question about warranties 😀
And mine shipped

Try the 700 videos. It's only the Auxiliary tank that needs the modification. If you just do the larger primary, it's plug and play. Looks like the pump is designed for 2 tanks, but the cap is setup for one, so you're just reverting it to a dual tank solution.

From FK:

Since your setup includes both the main and auxiliary tanks, here’s a quick note about how the fuel gauge behaves after installation:
  1. When both tanks are installed and filled up, the fuel gauge will initially remain stable — it only reflects the fuel consumption from the main tank.
  2. During this time, the range estimate on the dashboard will gradually decrease.
  3. Once the gauge starts to drop, it indicates that the auxiliary tank has been emptied, and the system is now drawing fuel only from the main tank.
  4. After the low fuel warning light comes on, the vehicle typically still has around 100 km (It is not an exact figure and should be calculated based on your actual fuel consumption.) of driving range remaining before refueling is required.

This is awesome thanks for being the first. I think I’m sold. Anyone know a good shop in Houston? What would be a reasonable install cost? I don’t have a lift so I don’t feel like trying this one on my back.
Let me know when you find out. I am buying parts now and this is on my list.

I have a message in to Duggy’s. I’ll keep yall updated. They’re only about a mile from my house so I might just swing by and talk to them if they don’t call me back soon.

I just ordered slee skid plates and have transmission fluid and transfer case fluid as well. Also the tuner waiting to go on. At 17k miles, and the motor recall I am hopefully in, I am looking forward to doing some mods.

Going to order the aux tank.

Buying a bunch of stuff for my f250, 95.5 tacoma, and FE350w Husqvarna. Bunch of projects so I need a shop for this tank change as it looks involved.

Was tired of using Rotopax. Saw this thread and ordered the 29 gallon tank today. Been told it'll take about 45-50 days to receive it. Anyone have any recommendations for a Phoenix area shop that could install it.

I’m cross posting this in both the Auxiliary Fuel tank for the empty space under the LX600? and the FK fuel tank threads.
I reached out to FK to thank them for their excellent communication during the ordering, building and shipping phases of my tank.
I also reiterated what another member mentioned to them about the need for written instructions in addition to the videos.
While they are actively working on that, they did provide an overview photo which I’m including here. Hope it’s helpful in your installation.

Definitely shouldn’t be more than 10hrs of work. I bet it’s a solid 6-7hrs by an introverted competent tech.
Agreed. If they came back at 5k for both tanks (so 3k for materials and 2k for labor, i would have been in. Now i'm trying to figure out who has a lift i can borrow for a day.

Duggy's is almost always pricey. They do a great job but upcharge a lot of stuff. This being a new aux tank in a new platform probably did not help too. Potentially their first one for the 700OT, so they might have built in some learning time.
