Oh. I didn't know about the rebuilt engine in the 70. That makes it a harder decision. Would you end up pulling the H55 out of the 40 to put into the 70?

Dunno. They both have H55's. Whichever one I keep would likely end up with the new 5 speed in it unless someone wanted to pay what I have invested in that H55. Smart thing would be to keep the 70, swap the trans, and get A/C installed. The 40 is super nice though and I just bought a set of SkyJackers for it.

The tax man is being evil this year so I can't afford to keep both of them which would be ideal

Parts availability on the 3B is pretty good, isn't it?

I would expect the 70 to be much more comfortable on the road going to and from wheeling, which we do a lot up here as you know.

Not really advocating either one in particular, I just have a serious love of the 70's.

I was convinced I was keeping the 40 until about an hour ago. I really think I'm gonna hafta post both of them up and see what happens. Guessing the 70 would sell quickest but who knows? If the wine business doesn't stop sliding the other might be for sale in about 6 months
..

Sorry to hear about the slowdow, we are dealing with that here as well, this economy is a killer.

I thought you could always count on the Big 3 in a recession? (booze, broads & guns)

I have about 20 things in the works and I need 5 of them to work. Odds look good and luck is created IMO. Can never tell what people will do in this economy.

Wine sales are down over 20% nationally. Cheap beer and vodka sales are thru the roof. People are getting drunk more but are buying cheap and fast methods of getting hammered.

I hear ya on the 70 thing. The 70 was gonna be my daily driver before the BMW fiasco and I ended up with the mini. I coulda kept the 40 going that way but timing/thieves were working against me.

I think you change your mind more often than I change my socks...and I change them twice a day (work boots after 5)

Do your self a favor...you'll never get the Cruiser bug out of you, so make a smart decision...sell the Mini and the 40, and KEEP the 70. This way you'll have ONE good family/cruiser, that you can DD, or wheel.

If I was in your situation, the 70 would be the better choice keep.

The 70 would be a good choice but I'd be concerned about continually driving a 70 in the winter with salty roads. Also don't know that I could get my $$ back out of the Mini without losing thousands. Does gove me something to think about!

maybe keep the 70 and get a beater 40 for the winter/ wheeling?

I'll change my mind tomorrow anyway so not sure why I'm even posting this stuff

80's are fruity.

(who will attack me first...Landtank or Wrench?)

What do you think the reliability of the 70 would be as a daily driver??

you do realize, that thing will add some serious pain and suffering to the passenger if you were in an accident.

Notice its on the wifes side!

Just took ot for a nice long drive. Very cushy compared to the 40 obviously. Needs some work here and there but nothing major. Far more comfortable than the Mini for long trips but it would definitely need to have a turbo as it bogs down in 4th gear.

Wife just got home, saw the 70 and freaked out. She loves it. She's never really liked anything I've had in the driveway.

If I were to keep it I would do A/C and turbo. Seems to be a small diesel leak as well. the list will be long and endless as usual. That new SuperWinch would look nice on the front bumper though

John that 80 looks freakin awesome  oh btw Rick and I just picked up a 97 fzj80 today

I got my new (used) 35" tires & rims delivered and put them on with Nate and Jack yesterday, sold my 33"s & rims today, also put the cap in the garage and put the soft top on, it's that time of year! It's finally starting to look like an actual wheeling rig. Front end issues taken care of, now gotta fix that damn misfire... that must be fixed before the 17th.
