BMW drama is finally over. The mechanic skipped town with my $$$ about an hour after I gave it to him. He also stiffed a few other people, bailed on his rent, stole tools, and left some poor guy with a disassembled Chevy Blazer that is still sitting there. Car is dead. No hope of seeing a dime. Moving on a bit wiser and a lot angrier.

Man, that sucks!!!

BTW,,,I noticed you had already seen the 70 Monday night...were you not supposed to be here Tuesday? How did it go with the 70?

Definitely getting the 70. Went well but needs more work than originally thought. Not too bad though. had extra time on Monday so ran up there to see it instead of burning an extra day

Howdy-Hi,

Can someone PM me Kina's contact info? I need to get up their for some sliders, yeah baby!

My appraisal came in higher then I expected, about 15k more then the last appraisal 3 year ago. :) :) Kitchen renovation paying off.

Noticed rates dropped to 5.125 today, down from 5.375 2 days ago, still hoping for sub-5.

Found out the boy's school financial aid forms are due tomorrow and I hadn't done my taxes yet. We usually have them done (to the tune of close to $300 btw) so we decided to TurboTax it this year and was VERY pleased with the product (free). Nice to save that prep money as well. Getting a good return which will go straight to the previously mentioned tuition.

I remember back in the day that the ol' tax return was fun money. {sigh}

We're buying a place on Portland. Wells Fargo is really dragging their feet. The closing was supposed to happen today and they simply weren't ready. (This has been in the works since around Thanksgiving.) Apparently the big national banks are all running way behind in any mortgage activities. Some mortgage brokers are speculating that the nationals simply don't have money to lend. (My insurance broker confirmed this, lots of property transfers aren't happening on time due to bank delays.) However the regional east coast banks are business as usual and funding loans.

Yeah, our local bank is an independent and mutually owned, according to their numbers they are in very good shape. They've been great to work with. Thankfully we are in good shape to borrow, for which we genuinely feel fortunate.

We've been with GMAC for years but they decided to freeze our heloc last month for literally no reason so that sealed the deal and we took our business local. Too much strife with the big boys these days.

We went with WF only because our previous mortgage was with them and they offer greatly reduced loan origination costs for repeat customers. This is what we get for trying to save a couple grand.

Refinancing mine as well. Supposed to close next week. I had it at 5% with no closing costs but now it's 5% with closing costs. I'll be saving enough to justify that anyway.

Funny, all this talk about homes possessed me to do this:

John - did you call my dad back? He is willing to help you file a complaint with the state to make sure they are aware of what happened and that it doesn't happen to someone else.

I did speak to him twice. Basically the guy has no address, no license, and nobody is sure of what his real name actually is. Putting it all behind me and balling up the anger inside me for use on someone else at a later date.

Just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper S with the supercharger. Like driving a go-kart. Still getting the 70 too. Nothing like draining the bank account. Hopefully I can keep the 70 but I can always sell it and get a cheap 40. The cycle continues.....

he rented the shop bay for 2 weeks prior so nobody knew him. AAA towed me. He's a ghost at this point.

Will post pics of the Mini asap. Grabbing it on Monday. 6 speed manual should get me a few tickets quickly

you will LOVE the Mini!!! What great little cars. :)

they make great speed bumps:flipoff2: cool cars none the less, saw a show on a company out they that will make you mini into an AWD car... bad ass

While I was hanging out with the wife last night she took my hand and put it on her belly. I felt the baby kick for the first time. Wicked cool.

awesome! That is such an amazing thing, isn't it? It blew my mind. Near the end I could actually watch her belly and see him move, see his arm (or leg or whatever) roll across the inside of her tummy as he moved around.

:) :) :)
