Alright I've had a cheap Amazon Carb and its been running my 74 FJ40 for about 5 years and its just dead. I've rebuild it 4 times and its still dumping fuel and wont run anymore. I've done some research and going fuel injected is just to pricy for me and I want it more stock so I ended up buying a city Racer Fuji Carb.

My question is what do I need to do before I bolt it on. I did buy a new insulator plate which ill put in soon. I also checked for vacuum leaks and replaced all fuel lines a few months ago. Ill check timing once's it's bolted on and stuff but do I need to do anything to the carb before? Asking if you guys have any experience with them. I normally drive at around above 5000ft.

Just my experience, they are a great carb, very nicely made but set up way lean. At 5k elevation your probably closer to ideal AFR - I would install new spark plugs, drive for a while and see what they look like
Sorry im new what is AFR , also good idea thats cheap and easy for new plugs

If it’s a totally original 74 F motor you’ll need to adapt the air cleaner and the choke cable.

Choke cable is resolved with standard cable stops from Dorman (auto zone/oreilly, etc.).

Air cleaner is a little trickier, nothing off the shelf to fasten so it’s up to you here.

Next is buy a fresh set of plugs or clean yours very well, regap to factory then drive. Read up on doing a plug chop to inspect jetting at various engine loads. Jetting is fine to get you started but this part depends how healthy your vacuum/compression/leak down is on your particular engine.

Also I’d recommend setting your timing to 13° to start if at 5000ft.

Ohh okay , I've always set time to 7 degree before top dead center , i have the original Manuel for the truck and this what it says. I'll try that too!! Thank you, just curious what will change the timing to 13 do. Make the engine spark faster?

It runs right/ correct timing for the altitude/air density. As told to me / many, add about an additional degree per 1,000 ft above sea level. Early F motor has a handle to adjust timing for altitude wherever you are, in Colorado that can be, 4,000 - 10,000 in the same day (another reason modern fuel injection with ignition control runs more consistantly; uses mass air sensor and adjusts ignition and fuel for actual air density).
