FJ45 blanco 1981 original invoice.jpeg

Having too much time now I read the Invoice from Toyota in Nagoya again and noticed that the FJ45 was transported to Barranquilla in the end of 1981 with the vessel named "DYVI Pacific"

As the 45 is now 39 years old how about the ship that transported it then ?

The "DYVI Pacific" was made in 1970, but capsized in April 2009

The end of the car carrier DYVI PACIFIC in a giant dockside capsize before sea trials were even completed in “One way to get rid of unwanted car carriers……

Some comments on the internet

---Tradewinds reports today that the DYVI PACIFIC struck rocks, capsized and sank whilst on sea trials this week. The 6,700-car vessel had just been christened and had not even been delivered to owner Jan-Erik Dyvi when the incident occured after leaving the builders yard, Weihai Samjin, China. Tradwinds reports that the ship is likely to be considered a total loss.

---A bit embarrassing capsizing in your own backyard, isn't it?!

---I'm wondering if the present economy will result in the ship being scrapped instead of salvaged?! I don't know how much they'll be able to save, but I'm pretty sure engines and electronics will be pretty much ruined by the water and simply the awkward position of the ship! The hull will of course be salvageable, but I doubt any of the equipment onboard will be...

The vessel didn't make it but the Troopy is still alive, this was the technical information I had to share

It's been 5 years !!

The Troopy went to an other warehouse

The soft top is changed for a nicer one with a much better color.

I close have it for 12 years now with unfortunately very little miles of usage

Will get it up to par and then It's going to be used for real :steer: , if not it must go :hmm:

Had some time today to install a new fuel pump and slave cylinder.

Let old fuel out by the drainplug in the tank and added new fresh fuel

Very happy she cranked right up.

The drum brakes all around locked up. The troopy wasn't movable at all.

Have put it on 4 jack stands to see which wheel was the culprit, but all drum brakes are locked up, impossible to turn by hand

When put in 2x4 gear, the right rear wheel is running, but when I push the brake it stops turning and the left rear wheel starts moving.
I let them for running for 5 minutes each side to see if the breaks got more loose, but couldn't still turn them by hand afterwards.

When I locked the front wheels the right front wheel started moving, pushed the brake and the left side started turning and the right one stopped. Same here after some time moving each of them they weren't to move by hand still.

Would I pull the 4 drums (these are the wider drums) check and clean them out and readjust them or just start driving it and they will balance itself out?

Seems like they all rusted over a bit… I would back off the cylinders a click or two on each and see what goes then … after you drive of a short spell you’ll most likely need to tighten a click or two back … but see how the pedal is

I assume when you say wheel … your actually trying to spin it with the wheel attached still right Rudy?

Thanks ! @JohnnyC I've got the brakes going on all 4 wheels.

Just to see I changed the 16" splits with 9.5" wide tires out for some 15" rims with the "new" Kenda Klever M/T2 KR629, 33/12,5R15 that are actually meant for the FJ40 FST.
Looks great from the side but the size 33/9.5R15 (16" is not available) will look much better on the troopy.

All together it took 3 months to get the Troopy finally 99% ready, some little details are still missing, but I couldn't handle it anymore not driving it, so took it out for a very nice enjoyable trip on the south part of the island and took some pictures of it.
I'm still very happy with the color and quality of the new soft top.
