Mel,

Is the tank getting mounted in the stock position and looking at it from your picture, is the other side tapered up for ground clearance? I've got a 60 gallon tank with the back sloped up and it still will hit rocks, at least in Moab. Alum. or steel? I'm assuming this means you might not make the party?

Scrap,

It's being made from steel. The fabricator says it will be done Wed. The new tank is approx 28gal and will reside in the stock location.

Hell or high water I'll see you in Colorado.

The 55 isn't going to be ready for the Carolina Relic Run this weekend, so I've been scarambling to piece together my '81 40 for the event.

The tank is going together. I still need to tack on the filler neck, before sending it off to be welded up.

The 55 gauges have been replaced with the 80 gauges. I now have a Speedometer. All the other cluster gauges and warning lights will function as well. Frank made them a custom flat acrylic cover.

When you get a chance would you please post up some more pictures of where you made the frame cut, if you have them? Did you by chance write down the location of the cuts measured from a body mount or something? From this picture it looks like the cuts were in completely different spots on either side of the frame. Knowing the exact location will save someone a lot of time in the future if they want to do an 80 swap like this.

I can get some photos.

@lowtideride customized the chassis and mounted the body, perhaps he can paint a better pic of how it was done.

All the pictures are on my old phone. But I made a 1/4" inner sleeve that was slid inside the frame. The frame was cut aft of the control arm supports, the frame is straight in that section and allowed the sleeve to be inserted there.

Amazing stuff in here...
