Roger that. I think the main thing is avoiding having to undo and mess with the wiring harness, which seems to be a pretty big PITA. If you can get around that without it creating other problems, then I was thinking maybe that's a better way to go.

Ideally, I would like to have both sides of the intake out of the engine bay and steam cleaned (or whatever the process is) because the brake clean and a scrubber can only clean so much.... :o

but I am not committed to the work involved for the "ideally" so instead I will just deal.
 
That orange stuff looks like surface rust on the iron block (?) Was it there immediately after you took it off or after it sat around for a few days?

Looks like the same stuff that's on my rotors when I haven't driven it for a few days. Scary-lookin' but not anything to worry about.
 
it came off looking like rust too...

the coolant system has been drained for a while now. I know its not much to worry about but just bothersome that I can't clean all of it out. The machinist at the head shop said that a good flush would help things out when the truck is re-assembled.
 
Flush you will young man, often you must.......flush 'till you can't flush any more....then flush again......
