I swear the quality of work at Discount Tire has fallen off rapidly in the last few years. Growing up in the late 90's, Discount Tire was about as good as it got. Clean stores, excellent inventory, and quality work at a fair price. The kids they employ in the garage today must be busy eating crayons and boogers when they go through training.

They already marred up one of the wheels on my Super Duty, and now they've gone and mounted the spare of the GX upside down and taken a chunk out of the finish. I don't understand how you can get it wrong. No spare mounts facing down, and there's even a liner that obviously recesses into the face of the wheel to protect it, and they somehow managed to wedge that between the backside of the wheel and the spare recess.

I'll be taking this one up with the manager of the store this week, and they will be covering the replacement of that wheel.

Shops go up and down in quality. I've used an awesome independent tire shop for the past decade - can get me any tire I want (cheaper than Discount by a few bucks), great job on alignments, etc. But, their service manager finally retired and they've already gone downhill. Our Discount is pretty new and I was unimpressed with them at first. But, they've gotten a new service manager and things have improved, so I've started using them more. Your Discount probably has new, crappier management, when seems to be pretty common for most business these days.

I've tried three different Discount stores within an hour of my home over the past year and a half. They've all sucked.

Maybe they have crappy store management AND crappy regional management :).

I'm sure there are at least a handful of good independent tire shops in your area. Discount is not always the cheapest, last year I bought both a new set of Falkens for my GX and Toyos for my wife's Highlander from my independent tire shop. The indy shop was around $5/cheaper a tire all-in, even with balance/mounting/disposal. They had to order both sets of tires but had them within a couple of days.

The Fuel and Fire MagSafe charger mount solved the phone placement issue.

I had the TSB/Warranty work done on the squeaky front brakes today. Fully covered by Lexus, and I am happy to report that they no longer scream in reverse.

Fuel and Fire overhead bin/sunglasses holder. Happy to have a spot for the glasses, and it fills in the awkward empty space up top.

The GX arrived at the dealer this evening, and we are going to take delivery on Thursday. The wife is super excited! If we like it and keep it, maybe I'll make it my own when she's ready for another in about three years. Not gonna lie, the build with portals and 37's got my juices flowing, and now my mind is running with ideas down the line. I wish there were better aftermarket magnetic cell phone mounts on the market. I am not impressed with what I see out there.
not sure if you have found a solution but I love my rockform case and magnetic mount... You can also get a locking mount from them... Very versatile system with minimum footprint.

That sure sucks. I've avoided venturing into GXOR Reddit/Facebook as I more or less quit social media (outside of our course forums) the better part of a decade ago. Most of the internet seems to be a cesspool these days.
The FB group is one of the most well moderated forums ever... a@# holes get booted quickly, it's all about info, help, and engaging more with people new to the platform, it's a little unfortunate many aren't educated to the history and where it all came from.

Sadly, this is true.
Unpopular opinion, but every LC person I know "wished" they still made a "poverty pack" LC like they did with the 80... That's exactly what Toyota built in this generation truck, an affordable entry level LC with different packages all the way up... You want a 3rd row, go to Lexus or get the Runner, You want different specs, you have to figure out what package suits you best... The other part is the 300 is still available here, it just has a Lexus badge on it... Love it or hate it they are selling more vehicles than ever, which also means it's working.

I agree, the 1958 LC250 is a stripped-down version; it's just a shame it lacks some of the off-road goodies of the Premium trim. If it had the sway-bar disco and MTS, it would be a bargain home run.

We test-drove the LX600, 700, and 700 Overtrail, the first two multiple times over the past two years; they still don't feel or look the same as the Toyota version. Unfortunately, that isn't an option here, and it won't be. This is why we ended up with the GX550 Overtrail.

Also the GX has much more in common with the 300 than the 250, motor, transmission, 9.5” rear diff, thicker sway bars, so many component crossover compared to the 250 which shares more parts with the taco and 4Runner.

Yea, my mother has a LC250 Premium and my father has the 4th Gen Tacoma Trailhunter. They are nearly identical in many respects.
