Hey now. Not all of us folks in older 470s are low-class rednecks. Some of us like a reliable and capable 4x4 that's cheap enough to use without fear of scratching it (and I sure use mine a lot). Although, I'm a generation older and a couple of rungs higher in educational attainment and tax bracket than the folks you are referring to :).

Or, maybe we can all be a little less judgmental :).

LOL, I have nothing against the the 470's, it's the one generation I never had the luxury of owning. I am just saying that it appears that group has been taken over by that crowd.

There is no such 470 "group" here in the Ozarks :). TBH I rarely see built 470s anywhere - on my wheeling trip to CO last year, I don't recall seeing any. On our camper trip to WY/MT/SD this year, I only saw a handful of them. I far more frequently see folks well into their 60s or 70s driving stock 470s - presumably they bought them new and have just kept driving them.

Mine may eventually get replaced with a 550 when they have depreciated enough and the reliability is proven.

There are quite a few stock and built 470's still running around down here in TX.

Funny, when I was going to grad school at UT in the aughts I really didn't like GX470s (and Austin was full of GXs in the aughts). I thought they were weird looking and a status symbol for upper-income people in their 40s and 50s, as well as a cash-cow for Lexus (I didn't know how well built they were at that time). Now I own one and absolutely love them :).

Oh, I definitely wanted one when they were new, but I simply couldn't afford one, at least not new at the time. By the time I graduated and was making decent cash, the 460 had dropped, and I bought one of those instead.

A few adds/accessories showed up this week.

New cargo light works like a charm. I can see all the way to next Thursday in there now.
