I recently purchased an NOS Toyota accessories rear Hatch ladder. It has all the hardware, however I can’t find any instructions about how the lower portion attaches… there is a separate metal plate that looks like it would go on the inside of the hatch, but it has 2 bolts and holes in it and then on the ladder side is a large flat magnetic piece.
Does anyone have one of these that they’ve installed or could send a few pics of Lower attachment configuration?
Pics below! Thanks in advance.

After seeing some pics of a used one, I may need to drill holes in the flat part attached to my ladder side in above pics… can anyone confirm?

Yes I got this one from him actually and just not trying to install, he found a thread of someone doing a used one but it clearly has holes where mine does not. Thanks!

You really should read/re-read that thread @SmoothLC posted.
@mot literally says you need to drill holes. So yeah, the holes wont be there.

He has install instructions (albeit in Japanese) on the 2nd page. Post was way before Google Translate.
THIS seems to be the most relevant to your situation/question.
If I'm understanding that install pic correctly, there are supposed to be two holes on the pad side for the small plate to go into.
Is that a foam/rubber pad on the ladder side? Cant tell in the pics. If so the holes don't seem to be in it.
Also do you have the rubber pads that protect the paint at the top of the hatch?

I was aware, always that I need to drill holes in the hatch, I didn’t know to drill them in the flat pad in the ladder side- it does not have holes and it seems to be magnetic. It’s not foam. The smaller plate goes inside for strength I assume and is threaded for the bolts. Thank you for the instructions pic! I missed that for sure.

Thank you much for the help!

Jeff,

Sorry to have joined the party late!
I sometimes seem to go through long periods before hopping back on MUD.

Anyway, I hope you got it figured out/worked out, but PLEASE let me know if I can be of any assistance though!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Mot

Just saw this on BaT and I noticed the exact ladder! I always wondered where it went.
